London is one of the greenest cities in the UK. Here are some green places there.
Hackney City Farm
The city farm was built in the 1980s to create a place where young people could be close to animals. It encourages them to create a friendly environment that cares for animals. You can see lovely farm animals including rabbits, sheep and chickens there. You may see butterflies (蝴蝶)too.
Barbican Conservatory
Invite your friends and family for afternoon tea here. You can enjoy special cakes made from fruit and plants grown right here. If you watch carefully, you can even see some exotic (来自异国的)fish.

Migrating (迁徙) animals move through several environments as they travel away from the cold areas in winter to warmer ones. These animals have developed their travelling ways over thousands of years. But climate (气候) change is almost certain to be serious over the next 25 to 50 years. And it is impossible for these animals to change their habits fast enough.
Turtles are hit hardest by rising temperatures. Scientists have found that at higher temperatures, turtles produce far more female eggs than male ones. In parts of Malaysia, turtles are only giving birth to female babies. And some turtles are more probable to develop cancer as the waters get warmer.
With birds, about one-fifth of migrating birds are now in danger because of problems caused by climate change, including rising sea levels, land loss and more strong storms.
The North Atlantic right whale is losing their food because of the changing ocean flows. The white-beaked dolphin is out-competed (战胜) by other kinds of dolphins in warmer waters.
Even with the temperature changing, protecting the environment can still help migrating animals return. “We need governments to start taking action all over the world. The clock is ticking. We should make full use of every minute,” said Dr Hepworth. And now some projects are already working! Some whales are changing their feeding habits, finding new feeding grounds and new food to eat.
( )11. Why does the rising temperature mean the end of some migrating animals

D. Because they keep flying from one part of the world to another.

Life today is much easier than it was hundreds of years ago,but it has brought new problems. One of the biggest problems is pollution. To pollute means to make things dirty. Pollution comes in many ways. We see it,smell it,drink it and even hear it.
Man has been polluting the earth. The more people, the more pollution. Many years ago,the problem was not so serious because there were not so many people. When the land was used up or the river was dirty in one place, man moved to another place. But this is no longer true. Man is now slowly polluting the whole world.
Air pollution is still the most serious. It's bad for all living things in the world, but it is not the only one kind of pollution. Water pollution kills our fish and pollutes our drinking water. Noise pollution makes us angry more easily.
Pollution by SO2 is now the most dangerous kind of air pollution. It is caused by heavy traffic. It is sure that if there are fewer people driving, there will be less air pollution.
The earth is our home. We must take care of it. That means keeping the land, water and air clean. And we must take care of the rise in pollution at the same time.
26. How is life today

Snow forests make up about 30% of the world's total forest areas. These wonderful woodlands are not as famous as the Amazon rainforest but they are just as important.
Snow forests are found in the far north of the world, in areas that are quite cold and usually have a lot of snowfall. They have very cold winters that can last up to six months. But even so, they are home to many kinds of animals, including foxes, mice and wolves. In the US and Canada, as many as five billion birds from more than 300 species (物种) live in the forests in the breeding (繁殖) season.
These woodlands perform an important job: helping to take in harmful gases. The gases are given off by burning coal, oil and gas, which can cause climate change. However, snow forests are facing several problems. Trees are being cut down faster and faster for their wood, which can be used for building. Some forests are being cleared to make space for new roads and houses, or to allow coal and gas industries to grow.
Luckily, environmental and wildlife groups around the world are working hard to protect snow forests. This means that cutting down trees is controlled in some areas and the forests are seen as areas of special scientific interest. When wood is needed, replanting plans and careful forest management help to reduce the human influence so that the forests are managed in a way that they can survive and regrow.
