One Sunday, Malachi Bradley was searching
for wild mushrooms in eastern Utah when he realized he had wandered too far from
the mountain lake where he was hiking with his father and family.
The 10-year-old boy tried looking
for a road to flag down a driver, but the area about 200 miles east of Salt Lake
City was too remote. He remembered the survival skills his father taught him and
eventually hunkered down between rocks still warm from the sun to protect himself
from the weather. The remaining warmth helped him get through the cold night.
Over the nearly 30 hours he was missing
in the rugged backcountry, he found river water to drink and even tried unsuccessfully
to catch a fish with a spear made from a stick.
Meanwhile, dozens of search-and-rescue
workers were combing the area on horses and ATVs, as well as in the air, but they
couldn't spot Malachi in the wooded landscape.
Back at Paul Lake, his father, Danny
Bradley, and a friend who had joined them for camping were keeping a fire burning,
hoping the boy might wander back on his own. As the hours wore on, Bradley imagined
his son alone in the woods and was terrified that he might be hurt.
The next day, Malachi heard a police
helicopter flying overhead. He knew the searchers aboard the craft couldn't see
him through the trees, so he started walking again until he found a clearing. He
stayed there, briefly falling asleep, until a search plane spotted him from the
air and a helicopter landed to pick him up on Aug. 24. Medical staff said he was
cold and hungry but fine.
Malachi said he'll go camping again,
but next time he'll stay close to other people. "I'll learn from my mistakes,"
he said.
(1)What happened to Malachi Bradley
A.He hurt his legs. B.He caught a cold.
C.He got lost. D.He fell from the mountain.
(2)How did Malachi Bradley keep himself warm at night
A.By staying between rocks. B.By building a shelter.
C.By keeping on going. D.By lighting some branches.
(3)What lessons does Malachi Bradley learn from the experience
A.Experience decides everything. B.Live with bravery and hope.
C.Stay close to others when camping. D.Never go camping again.
【答案】(1)C
(2)A

根据最后一段“Malachi said he'll go camping again, but next time he'll stay close to other people. 'I'll learn from my mistakes,' he said.”
Limiting kids' recreational(消遣的) screen time to less
than two hours a day, along with enough sleep and physical activity, is associated
with improved cognition(认知), according to a study published
in TheLancetChild&AdolescentHealth.
The study included about 4,500 US
children aged 8 to 11 and measured their habits against the Canadian24-HourMovementGuidelinesforChildrenandYouth.
It found that 51% of the children got the recommended(建议) nine to eleven hours
of uninterrupted sleep per night, 37% met the recreational screen time limit of
two hours or less per day, while 18% met the physical activity recommendation of
at least 60 minutes of accumulated physical activity a day. Only 5% of the children
in the study met all three recommendations; 30% met none at all.
The researchers found that as each
recommendation was met by a participant, there was a positive association with global
cognition, which includes memory, attention, processing speed and language. Those
who met all three had the most "superior" global cognition, followed by
those meeting the sleep and screen time recommendation and finally the screen time
recommendation alone, according to the study.
Other organizations, such as the American
Academy of Pediatrics have guidelines in place to help with the management of children's
screen time. The organization suggests putting realistic rules or limits in place
for how long your children are on their screens, knowing who they are talking to
and what they are doing. The amount of recommended screen time depends on the age
of the child. Besides, parents should also make sure to encourage physical activity
and have bedroom rules such as creating "tech-free zones".
(1)Who are the target readers of this passage
A.Researchers. B.Teachers. C.Parents. D.Children.
(2)What is the main idea of this passage
A.A study on children's screen time is published.
B.The US children fail to meet movement guidelines.
C.Organizations are concerned about children's cognition.
D.Limitation on children's screen time is linked to better cognition.
(3)According to the passage, which of the following might contribute least to cognition
A.The screen time limit.
B.Sleep hours.
C.The physical activity time.
D.Sleep hours and the screen time limit.
(4)Why does the American organization suggest creating "tech-free zones"
A.To make sure children have enough physical playtime.
B.To make sure children have enough sleep time.
C.To make sure children have recreational time.
D.To protect children against radiation.
【答案】(1)C
(2)D
(3)C
(4)B
根据第一段中的“Limiting kids' recreational(消遣的) screen time to less than two hours a day, along with enough sleep and physical activity, is associated with improved cognition(认知), according to a study published in TheLancetChild&AdolescentHealth.”
根据第三段中的“Those who met all three had the most 'superior' global cognition…”
根据第三段中的“Those who met all three had the most 'superior' global cognition, followed by those meeting the sleep and screen time recommendation and finally the screen time recommendation alone, according to the study.”
根据最后一段中的“Besides, parents should also make sure to encourage physical activity and have bedroom rules such as creating 'tech-free zones'.”

Scientists in Argentina have
created the world's first cow with two human genes that will enable it to
produce human-like milk.
Genetic engineering was used to
introduce the "mothers' milk" genes into the animal before birth,
according to the National Institute of Agribusiness Technology in Buenos Aires.
As an adult, the cloned cow
"will produce milk that is similar to that of humans", which will
prove "a development of great importance for the nutrition of infants(婴儿)", said the
institute. "The cloned cow, named Rosita ISA, is the first in the world
with two human genes that contain the proteins present in human milk,"
said the statement.
In April, scientists in China
published details of research showing that they had created dairy cows which
produced milk containing proteins found in human breast milk. But the Argentine
team said the Chinese only introduced one human gene, while their research
involved two, meaning the milk will more
closely resemble that of humans.
"Our goal was to raise the
nutrition value of cows' milk by adding two human genes, which do good to the
immune system of infants," said Adrian Mutto, from the National University
of General San Martín which worked with the institute.
Cristina Kirchner, President of
Argentina, said that the scientific institute made all Argentines proud. She
also said that she had refused the "honour" of having the cow named
after her. "They came to tell me that the name is Cristina, but what woman
would like to have a cow named after her It appeared to me to be more proper
to call it Rosita."
(1)What is the passage mainly about
A.The importance of genetic engineering.
B.Ways to improve mothers' milk.
C.Advanced agricultural technology in Argentina.
D.A cloned cow to produce human-like milk.
(2)Which of the following can best replace "more closely resemble" in Para. 4
A.Have more varieties than. B.Have more nutrition than.
C.Be more similar to. D.Be more different from.
(3)What can be inferred from Cristina Kirchner's statements
A.She was quite satisfied with the research done by the institute.
B.She considered it an honour to name the special cow.
C.She felt it improper to be named after the cow.
D.She refused to give a name to the cow out of self-respect.
【答案】(1)D
(2)C
(3)A
根据第一段中的“Scientists in Argentina have created the world's first cow with two human genes that will enable it to produce human-like milk.”
根据第四段中的“But the Argentine team said the Chinese only introduced one human gene, while their research involved two, meaning the milk will more closely resemble that of humans.”
根据最后一段中的“Cristina Kirchner, President of Argentina, said that the scientific institute made all Argentines proud.” 故选A。

Any car accident is frightening, but
an accident in which your vehicle is thrown into the water, with you trapped inside,
is absolutely terrifying. However, most deaths result from panic, without
a plan or understanding what is happening to the car in the water. By adopting a
brace(支撑) position, acting decisively
and getting out fast, you can save yourself from a sinking vehicle.
Brace yourself for impact. As soon
as you're aware that you're going off the road and into a body of water, adopt a
brace position. The impact could set off the airbag system in your vehicle, so you
should place both hands on the steering wheel in the "ten and two" position.
Undo your seat belt. Untie the children, starting with the oldest first.
Forget the cellphone call. Your car isn't going to wait for you to make the call.
Leave the door alone at this stage and concentrate
on the window. A car's electrical system should work for up to three minutes in
water, so try the method of opening it electronically first. Many people don't think
about the window as an escape option either because of panic or misinformation about
doors and sinking.
Break the window. If you aren't able
to open the window, or it only opens halfway, you'll need to break it with an object
or your foot. It may feel counter-intuitive (与正常预期相反的) to let water into the car.
Escape when the car has equalized.
If it has reached the dramatic stage where the car cabin has been filled with water
and it has become balanced, you must move quickly and effectively to ensure your
survival. While there is still air in the car, take slow,
deep breaths and focus on what you're doing.
A. Open the window as soon as you hit the
water.
B. Surviving a sinking car is not as difficult
as you think.
C. It takes 60 to 120 seconds for a car
to fill up with water usually.
D. Such accidents are particularly dangerous
to the risk of drowning.
E. In conclusion, if you know what to do
in the water, you will be safe.
F. This is the first thing to attend to,
yet it often gets forgotten in the panic.
G. But the sooner the window is open, the
sooner you can escape directly through it.
【答案】D;F;A;G;C
根据空前“but an accident in which your vehicle is thrown into the water, with you trapped inside,is absolutely terrifying.
This is the first thing to attend to"对应.
Leave the door alone at this stage and concentrate on the window.” 故选A。
根据空前“you"ll need to break it with an object or your foot.”
根据空前“you must move quickly and effectively to ensure your survival.”

A:passed“经过”;B:broken“打破”;C:opened“打开”;D:locked“上锁” 。根据“ In October, 2003, I started my work at my local animal shelter's Adoption Department.”
A:strange“奇怪的,陌生的”;B:active“积极地,主动的”;C:special“特殊的”;D:wild “野外的,野生的”。
A:recall“回忆”;B:forget“忘记”;C:leave“离开,留下”;D:abandon“遗弃”。 根据上文“…who touch me so deeply…”
A:possible“可能的”;B:great“伟大的,美好的”;C:remote“遥远的”;D:bright “聪明的,明亮的”。
A:whispering“低语,低声说”;B:asking“问”;C:seeking“寻找”;D:explaining “解释”。
A:disabled“残疾的”;B:active“积极地,主动的”;C:stubborn“顽固的”;D:patient “有耐心的”。
A:hospital“医院”;B:roadside“路边”;C:farm“农场”;D:shelter “收容所”。
A:posted“邮寄”;B:taken“带走”;C:seen“看见”;D:drawn “绘画,吸引”。
A:letter“字母,信件”;B:enquiry“咨询”;C:call“呼喊”;D:donation “捐赠”。
A:never“从来不”;B:possibly“可能”;C:frequently“频繁地”;D:generally “一般地”。
A:temporary“暂时的”;B:normal“正常的”;C:successful“成功的”;D:early “早的”。
A:Moreover“而且”;B:However“然而”;C:Therefore“因此”;D:Otherwise “否则,要不然”。
A:learnt“学习”;B:heard“听到”;C:suffered“遭受”;D:recovered“恢复”。
A:unforgettable“难忘的”;B:inseparable“不可分割的,;不能分离的 ”;C:unfortunate“不幸的”;D:uncomfortable“不舒服的”。 根据下文“They did everything together.”
A:explanation“预期”;B:warning“警告”;C:suggestion“建议”;D:notice “通知”。
A:return“返回”;B:birth“出生”;C:arrival“到达”;D:recovery “痊愈,恢复”。
A:performed“表现”;B:created“创造”;C:achieved“完成”;D:witnessed “目击”。

David hung up his cellphone and rushed to his son's classroom, only to find him
listening to the teacher attentively. He suddenly realized that he had been cheated,
but he felt (relieve). Just at that time the

operation which costs 48,000 yuan. The
doctors here say they will not operate your son until they receive the money."
When (ask) from where the caller had taken
his son to hospital, the caller rang off. David gave a big smile and said, "What
a pity!"
If the cheater thought he could get
money from David in such a(n) (honest) way, he was wrong. Such
phone calls are common these days. A few of them might have fallen victims to such
tricks. Most parents are sensitive to (they). It was really silly to cheat
educated men like David.
Believe it or not, it's a true story.
The (colleague) in his office can confirm
it, such as Tom, Peter and so on.
【答案】was eating;had fallen;who/that;relieved;an;on;asked;dishonest;them;colleagues
根据下文的“when he received…”
根据强调句型It is/was+被强调部分+that/who(人)+句子其余部分,因为该句中强调的是主语he,故填who/that。
根据”such as Tom,Peter and so on”可知此处应用复数形式,故填colleagues。
1)开设急救课的原因;
2)烫伤急救知识;
注意:1)词数80左右;
2)信的开头和结尾已经给出,不计入总词数;
Dear Peter,
Glad to receive your letter, and now
I'll tell you something about the first aid course in our school and some suggestions
about burns.
Best wishes!
Yours,
Li Hua
Dear Peter,
Glad to receive your letter, and now I'll
tell you something about the first aid course in our school and some
suggestions about burns.
It's a necessary part of our education and
will make us more useful members of our society. If we learn about first aid,
we can help someone who has an accident, or even can save someone's life one
day.
The suggestions about burns are as follows.
First, remove clothing using scissors if necessary unless it is stuck to the
burn. Then, cool the burned area at once. Place the affected area under cool
running water, but don't apply cool water for too long a time. At last, you'd
better go to hospital if the affected area is still painful.
The first aid course is very interesting and
useful. Would you like to come here to study again We are all looking forward
to it.
Best wishes!
Yours,

I woke up earlier than my brother
as every other day of the week. I jumped out of the bed, got dressed, brushed my teeth, and had breakfast. Saying good bye
to my mother, I got in the car no later than
7:05. I got to school on time, even though my brother came out of the house late
as he used to.
It was a Thursday. I was walking to
the chemistry rooms when my phone in my left
pocket vibrated(震动). I took it out and looked at the shiny screen. As soon as I saw my father's name on that screen I realized
something was not right.
He would not call me in the middle
of a school day just to talk. He would want me to focus in school and do well. I
answered the phone, and my father sounded worried.
He told me to find my brother as soon as possible, walk with him to the school picking-up zone and get in the car with my
brother. Our driver would take us back home where my father was.
When I was in the car with my brother
my dad called the driver and told him to take us to the hospital. We were going to meet him and my mum there. As soon as my brother
and I found about the change in plans, we looked at each other in the eyes. I immediately
noticed the fear in my brother's eyes.
To be honest, I was really scared too, probably more than he was. But I did
not say anything. We arrived at the hospital. I saw my dad on the phone waiting
for us at the entrance. He was smoking. Seeing my dad smoking made me more worried. I had never seen him smoke before.
He hated it. As soon as he recognized the white car, he threw the cigarette away.
I looked at my brother; he was looking out of the other window. I did not tell him
what I just saw. I did not want him to worry.

Paragraph 1:
The car stopped right in front of
my dad.
Paragraph 2:
We walked down the hall with our eyes
closed.
The car stopped right in front of my dad. He
opened the door and I jumped out of the car and hugged him. He noticed that I
was worried right away and with a smile on
his face told us he had a surprise for us. "What good things happen in hospital " When we approached the ward,
my dad told my brother and me to close our
eyes and hold his hands. So we did. His warm hands made us feel more secure.
We walked down the hall with our eyes
closed. Suddenly we stopped. When we walked into the room, Father told us to
open our eyes. We saw our mother lying on
the bed. Tears welled up in my eyes, but I
was not in pain. Right next to my mother was the most beautiful thing I had
ever seen. It was a girl. She was sleeping. She was my sister. I still remember
that day as one of the happiest days of my life.

He opened the door and I jumped out of the car and hugged him. He noticed that I was worried right away and with a smile on his face told us he had a surprise for us. When we approached the ward, my dad told my brother and me to close our eyes and hold his hands. When we walked into the room, Father told us to open our eyes. Tears welled up in my eyes, but I was not in pain. Right next to my mother was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.

David will never forget what happened
to him the day before yesterday. He (eat) something at home when he received
a strange phone call from a hospital. The caller said that his son (fall)
to the ground unconscious on the way to school. It was he took him to the hospital.
David hung up his cellphone and rushed to his son's classroom, only to find him
listening to the teacher attentively. He suddenly realized that he had been cheated,
but he felt (relieve). Just at that time the
phone rang again, saying, "Your son is in great danger and he needs immediate
operation which costs 48,000 yuan. The

A:passed“经过”;B:broken“打破”;C:opened“打开”;D:locked“上锁” 。根据“ In October, 2003, I started my work at my local animal shelter's Adoption Department.”
A:strange“奇怪的,陌生的”;B:active“积极地,主动的”;C:special“特殊的”;D:wild “野外的,野生的”。
A:recall“回忆”;B:forget“忘记”;C:leave“离开,留下”;D:abandon“遗弃”。 根据上文“…who touch me so deeply…”
A:possible“可能的”;B:great“伟大的,美好的”;C:remote“遥远的”;D:bright “聪明的,明亮的”。
A:whispering“低语,低声说”;B:asking“问”;C:seeking“寻找”;D:explaining “解释”。
A:disabled“残疾的”;B:active“积极地,主动的”;C:stubborn“顽固的”;D:patient “有耐心的”。
A:hospital“医院”;B:roadside“路边”;C:farm“农场”;D:shelter “收容所”。
A:posted“邮寄”;B:taken“带走”;C:seen“看见”;D:drawn “绘画,吸引”。
A:letter“字母,信件”;B:enquiry“咨询”;C:call“呼喊”;D:donation “捐赠”。
A:never“从来不”;B:possibly“可能”;C:frequently“频繁地”;D:generally “一般地”。
A:temporary“暂时的”;B:normal“正常的”;C:successful“成功的”;D:early “早的”。
A:Moreover“而且”;B:However“然而”;C:Therefore“因此”;D:Otherwise “否则,要不然”。
A:learnt“学习”;B:heard“听到”;C:suffered“遭受”;D:recovered“恢复”。
A:unforgettable“难忘的”;B:inseparable“不可分割的,;不能分离的 ”;C:unfortunate“不幸的”;D:uncomfortable“不舒服的”。 根据下文“They did everything together.”
A:explanation“预期”;B:warning“警告”;C:suggestion“建议”;D:notice “通知”。
A:return“返回”;B:birth“出生”;C:arrival“到达”;D:recovery “痊愈,恢复”。
A:performed“表现”;B:created“创造”;C:achieved“完成”;D:witnessed “目击”。

根据下文的“when he received…”
根据强调句型It is/was+被强调部分+that/who(人)+句子其余部分,因为该句中强调的是主语he,故填who/that。
根据”such as Tom,Peter and so on”可知此处应用复数形式,故填colleagues。

Yours,

opened the door and I jumped out of the car and hugged him. He noticed that I
was worried right away and with a smile on
his face told us he had a surprise for us. "What good things happen in hospital " When we approached the ward,
my dad told my brother and me to close our
eyes and hold his hands. So we did. His warm hands made us feel more secure.

closed. Suddenly we stopped. When we walked into the room, Father told us to
open our eyes. We saw our mother lying on
the bed. Tears welled up in my eyes, but I
was not in pain. Right next to my mother was the most beautiful thing I had
ever seen. It was a girl. She was sleeping. She was my sister. I still remember
that day as one of the happiest days of my life.
