How do you understand the poem by Laurence Binyon
我等生者日渐衰老,而他们却不再老去;
他们不再为岁月所难,亦不再为残年所累。
我们永远缅怀他们,
在每个太阳西沉之时,在每个曙光降临之际。
For the Fallen
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
These heroes who bravely fought on the beaches of northern France will be remembered forever.

Why do people hold war memorial ceremonies
It is a means of honouring both those in the armed forces and civilians who sacrificed their lives.
It is a reminder that peace is hard-earned, and that the costs were real.
一个遗忘历史的民族是没有希望的。
