My name is Nora. I live in Moscow now, but I was born in Qingdao. We moved to Moscow four years ago when my dad got a new job here. I didn’t want to leave China because I had a great life there. I had lots of friends and everyone got along well with each other. We had fun swimming almost every day after school. And the weather was always great. At first, I didn’t like the life in Moscow when we arrived. It was still winter, so the weather wasn’t very nice. It was really cold and it snowed all the time. I didn’t have any friends. I felt sad and lonely and wanted to go back to China. Things got better when I started school. All the kids at school were friendly to me. Now I enjoy living here. I think Moscow is a great city.八年级英语阶段性练习答案

Soon we were on top of a hill on the other side of the house. Below us we could see the river and the town. One or two lights were still on, but everything was quiet. We went down the hill and found Joe Harper, Ben Rogers and two or three more of the boys. Then Tom took us down the river by boat to his secret place, which was a cave deep in the side of a hill. When we got there, Tom told us all his plan.
“Now, we’ll have this gang of robbers,” he said, “and we’ll call it Tom Sawyer’s Gang. If somebody hurts one of us, the others will kill him and his family. And if a boy from the gang tells other people our secrets, we’ll kill him and his family, too.”
We all thought this was wonderful, and we wrote our names in blood from our fingers. Then Ben Rogers said, “Now, what’s the gang going to do ”
“Nothing,” replied Tom. “Just rob and kill. We stop people on the road, and we kill them, and take their money and things. But we can keep a few of the people, and then their friends can pay money to get them back. That’s what they do in the stories in books.”
But Ben wasn’t happy. “What about women ” he asked. “Do we kill them, too ”
“Oh, no,” Tom answered. “We’re very nice to them, and they all love us, and they don’t want to go home.”
“Then the cave will be full of women, and people waiting, and we’ll have to watch them all night ... ”
“We’ll all go home now,” Tom said, “and we’ll meet next week, and we’ll kill somebody and rob somebody.”

Have you ever decided that you didn’t like something even before trying it Do you think it is a good idea to make a decision before knowing all the facts about a situation
These questions provide some of the learning moments in Matt Bell’s delightful book The Jellies and the Crunchers.
The story takes place in a town that has all kinds of people: young and old, tall and short, fat and thin. However, the town people are separated by their personal food choices: the Jellies who like sticky jelly, and the Crunchers who like crunchy crackers.
The two groups dislike each other. The Jellies believe that the Crunchers are too untidy and loud. The Crunchers believe that the Jellies are too untidy and gooey.
Even the town square is divided. There are jelly shops on one side and cracker stores on the other. But when the picnic tables become covered in both jelly and cracker crumbs, a lot of blame (责怪) starts to take place from each side, and nobody wants to clean up a mess that they feel isn’t theirs. A huge food fight then takes place.
Yet, as people go back home to clean up the jelly and crackers, a funny thing happens. A little girl, “going against everything she had learned and understood” in life to this point, takes a bold (大胆的) step and changes everything. This finally brings the community together as they accept each other’s differences.
58. People are separated into the Jellies and the Crunchers according to _________.
A. personal age B. personal height C. personal weight D. personal food choices
59. The Jellies and the Crunchers dislike each other because_________.
A. they think each other is untidy
B. the Jellies often trick the Crunchers
C. the town square is divided into two parts
D. they often have to fight with each other for food
60. How did they accept each other at last
A. They spent a day in each other’s shops.
B. They cleared up each other’s differences.
C. A girl helped them understand each other.
D. Matt Bell gave them some useful advice.
61. What can we learn from the passage
A. We should learn to understand each other.
B. We should blame others when they make mistakes.
C. There will always be things that we don’t like in life.
D. We should judge others without getting to know them.
D
You might have seen beautiful rainbows in the sky before. They form when sunlight falls on water drops in the air. But in fact, moonlight can also create rainbows in the same way. They are called “moonbows”. They are similar to rainbows, but they are created by moonlight instead of direct sunlight.
Moonbows are rarer than rainbows. Different weather and astronomical (天文学的)conditions have to be just right for moonbows to be created.
The moon has to be very low in the sky-only 42 degrees from the horizon (地平线). The moon period has to be a full moon or nearly full. The sky must be very dark for a moonbow to be watched clearly-any bright light can obscure it. Water drops must appear in the air in the opposite direction of the moon.
Moonbows appear on the opposite side of the moon and usually look white to the human eye. This is because their colors are not bright enough to be noticed by the human eye. It is possible, however, to view the colors in a moonbow using long exposure (长时间曝光)photography.
Moonbows more often appear in some locations around the world. Most of these locations usually have waterfalls, which create thin fog in the air. Some of these locations are the Yosemite National Park in California and Cumberland Falls State Resort Park in Kentucky, US; Victoria Falls on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe; and Waimea in Hawaii, US.
Moonbows do really happen. So at a certain time and a certain place, when a moonbow happens to appear, you can’t miss it if you’re right there.
62. According to the first two paragraphs, moonbows are ________.
A. created by sunlight B. much easier to find
C. seen during the day D. more difficult to form
63.Which of the following can be the conditions for a moonbow to form
A. A half moon hangs high in the bright sky.
B. A full moon is 50 degrees from the horizon.
C. A nearly full moon hangs low in the dark sky.
D. Water drops are in the opposite direction of the sun.
64. What does the underlined word “obscure” in paragraph 3 probably mean
A. cover B. drop C. connect D. produce
65. What is paragraph 5 mainly about
A. Conditions of moonbows. B. Background of moonbows.
C. Locations of moonbows. D. Development of moonbows.

The Yangtze River, about 6 300 kilometres long, is the longest river in Asia. It provides a lifeline for hundreds of millions of people. It covers an area of 1.8 million square kilometres, about a fifth of the national total. The river also provides a third of our country’s fresh water resources. Along with the Yellow River, it is considered as China’s “mother river”.
However, in recent years, this “mother river” has met with some environmental problems. It was seriously polluted and the number of the fish is getting smaller. To solve these problems, the government passed the Yangtze River Protection Law. The law came into force on March 1, 2021. There are nine parts in the law, covering areas such as resource protection, anti-pollution measures, green development and legal responsibilities. More importantly, the law has introduced a fishing ban(禁令) on the Yangtze River’s natural waterways. According to the new law, both the central government and local organizations would put the river protection into their economic(经济的) and social development plans.
Around 231 000 fishermen had given up their fishing rights along the Yangtze River. Chinese Vice-premier Han Zheng said that more support should be given to these people to help them find new jobs. He also calls for stronger efforts to help prevent activities which are not allowed by the law and encourages the public to support the ban.
