Do you feel tired after school each day Do you feel that your work never ends Is your work never good enough Are you unsure about what you might do in the future This is called “burnout”.
Written by Anne Helen Petersen, the book Can’t Even: How Millennials Became The Burnout Generation aims to discuss about “burnout” among young people, especially millennials (people born between 1981 and 2000).
This group is often considered to be lazy, spoiled(被宠坏的) and unambitious(胸无大志的). However, Petersen thinks millennials are just burned out. Focusing mainly on the US, Petersen thinks burnout comes from heavy student debt (债务), rising depression levels, a weak job market and social media pressure.
The book discusses about why this generation has so many negative(负面的)thoughts. It goes on to explain how American society needs to change and it also asks others to be more understanding.
One review on Goodreads, an Amazon company and social website for book lovers, says, “Can’t Even is important and it puts forward a topic that we all need to pay attention to. Burnout is common in American society.”
