Many companies have created apps to help blind people. Microsoft created apps to describe a photo. Huawei made an app that uses sounds to tell users if people they are talking to look happy, sad or angry. Now, Google is testing an app that will allow blind people to run alone.
Panek, CEO of Guiding Eyes for the Blind, had always loved running. But he started losing his eyesight(视力)when he was 8, and by his early 20s he was blind. Later in life, he started running with other people or a guide dog to help him. But he didn't like this way. He asked a group of experts of Google whether they could create something to help blind people run on their own.
The Google team soon created Project Guideline. The Guideline app uses a smartphone camera to recognize(辨认)a line painted on the ground. Through earphones, the app makes sounds when a person moves away from the line.
After trying the app, Panek used it while running outside in a park. In November 2020, when he was 38 years old, Panek successfully ran 5 kilometres around New York City's Central Park using the app.
Panek hopes that the app Project Guideline can help more people like him. And Google will improve Project Guideline to better help the blind.

四、回答问题(难度:★★★)
Today, many teenagers have already put technology to good use. Here are two good examples.
●A new reader (阅读器) for the blind
The two 14-year-old students, Meng Shuqi and Feng Boyao, are from Taiyuan. They invented a new kind of reader to help the blind read books. The new reader can turn words into raised dots (盲点) when connected to a computer.
As we know, the blind read by touching raised dots. However, there weren't many books for the blind in the past, and it was difficult for them to get new information in time. As the old readers in the market were very expensive and difficult to use, the two students decided to invent the new reader which was easier to use. They hoped that the new reader could be widely used to help more blind people.
?●A smart system for the old
A 16-year-old American boy Vetri Vel created a smart system. It is made up of a small computer and a camera. The system can catch the heat signals (热感信号) of a fallen person and send messages for help at once.
After Vetri's neighbour had fallen down alone at home, Vetri realised that falling down was a common problem for many old people. It may even lead to death. Vetri hopes that his invention can help more old people in time.

The fingerprint unlock(指纹解锁) is my pared with numeric passwords, it can help me unlock my phone more quickly. I think the pattern unlock is not safe. When you're unlocking your phone, other people might see the pattern and memorize it. Besides, it's too easy for thieves to break the code.
—by Peter
My favourite is the fingerprint unlock. Everyone's fingerprint is unique (唯一的). So I think that's safer. Some people like to use numbers as their passwords. They often use special numbers, such as birth dates and telephone numbers. I think this is quite unsafe.
—by Smith
I think using fingerprints to unlock smartphones is the most unsafe because fingerprints can be copied by using some kinds of technology. I prefer the face unlock. Other people cannot unlock your phone unless you allow them to.
—by Tina
I prefer the fingerprint unlock, as no two fingerprints in the world are the same. I think the most unsafe method is the pattern unlock because too many people use patterns shaped like “Z”, “L” or “W”, which are easy to guess. I am also interested in the voice unlock. Everyone has a unique voice. When you speak, your phone will recognise your voice and unlock itself.

Soon computers and other machines will be able to remember you by looking at your eyes! The programme works because everyone's eyes are different. So in the future you won't have to remember a number when you want to use a machine or take money out of a bank. You'll just have to look at the machine and it will be able to tell who you are. The eye-recognition(眼睛识别)programme is tested in shops and banks in the USA, Britain and Italy.
Scientists are working on other systems too. Machines will soon be able to know you from the shape of your face or hands or even your smell! We have already had machines that can tell who you are from your voice or your fingerprints. But eye-recognition will replace other ways of finding out who you are. It is better,
because your eyes don't change as you get older, or get dirty like hands or fingers. And even twins have different eyes, so the programme can be up to 94% correct, depending on how good the technology is. In Britain, it was found that 91% of people said that they liked the idea of eye-recognition.

Now chopsticks are one of the most famous symbols of Chinese food culture. Do you know where they were invented Yes, they were invented in China.
It's said that the first chopsticks were used in China about 5,000 years ago. Since then, chopsticks have been the main dishware in China though it is a little difficult for people to use them to eat at first. Soon, chopsticks are widely used in many other countries in Asia, such as Vietnam, Japan and Korea. Most chopsticks are made of bamboo or wood because they are so common that they are cheap and easy to get.
But there are also some other different kinds of materials. For example, animal bones are also used for making chopsticks. Even valuable materials like silver and gold are used to make chopsticks too. There are also many table manners connected with chopsticks. For example, you can't use chopsticks to point at others.
