Present the picture, “This is a school building.” Learn new word “building” and count how many floors in the picture.

What do you want to know Try to ask some questions.
Present the questions: Who are they Where do they live Where do they come from
Listen to the first part of the text, then discuss with partners, answer in pairs. Teacher writes on the blackboard.
Listen to the recording, introduce Bruce and Jess.
Bruce says: “I am Bruce. I’m from the UK. I live on the first floor.”
Jess says: “I am Jess. I’m from the USA. I live on the first floor.”
T: So Bruce and Jess live on the same floor, yes
S: ….
Read the whole text, discuss with the partner to find the answer.
Bruce says: “No, Jess lives on the ground floor.” Learn the new word “ground”.
Ss: Jess says: “No, Bruce lives on the second floor.”
Teacher invites students to the front to mark on the blackboard where Bruce and Jess live.
Find the difference and know why.
T: So Jess lives on the first floor and Bruce lives on the second floor. But what’s the matter Why do they say so
S: Because in the UK “the first floor” is the same as “the second floor” in the USA. In the UK “the ground floor” is the same as “the first floor” in the USA.
