Language points
1. The number of ……的数量
the number of 后跟名词复数，作主语时谓语动词用单数。
例句：最近几年里，野生动物的数量逐渐减少。

wish 此处作可数名词，意为“心愿，愿望，祝愿” 。
wish 还可作动词，意为“希望，祝愿”。
2. make a wish 许愿
例句：许下愿望容易，要使愿望成真却很难。
It’s easy to make a wish, but it is difficult to
make it come true.
4. In China, it is getting popular to have cake on your
birthday.
此句中it为形式主语，真正的主语是其后的动词不定式短语 to have cake on your birthday。
注意：作形式主语的代词只能用it，不能用that,
this等词。
5. get popular 变得流行
popular为形容词，意为“受欢迎的；普遍的；流行的；通俗的”。
常用短语：be popular with… 受到……欢迎
