Pre- Reading 读前 Play some pictures of the teacher and ask several questions: (1)Where is Qingdao (2)What’s the weather like in Qingdao (3)When is the best time to visit Qingdao (4)What should you wear if you feel cold in the morning Watch the pictures of the teacher and answer the questions with the help of the sentences. (1)Location: Qingdao is a beautiful city ___. (2)Weather: It is___ in summer and ______ in winter. (3)So the best time to visit Qingdao is ______. Step 3. While- reading 读中 1. Skimming (1)Ask the Ss to read the first and last paragraph of the passage and answer the question. When is the best time to visit the US Divide the passage into three parts and match the main idea with each part. (Read the first sentence of each paragraph) Scanning Ask the Ss to read part 2 and find the places mentioned in the passage. Careful-reading Ask the Ss to read the passage in details and answer more questions. Paragraph 2 When is the best time to visit New York and Washington DC What’s the weather like in winter Paragraph 3 Read and complete the table about: weather, best time to visit and advice. Paragraph 4-5 Read and complete the table by themselves. Then ask and answer with partners to check the answers. Paragraph 6 Read and get the Chinese meaning of the two phrases: compare to, from time to time. Watch the flash and imitate the pronunciation and intonation. Read together. Skimming (1)Read the first and the last paragraph fast and find the main idea of the passage. (2)Number the paragraphs and match the main idea with each part. 2. Scanning Read part 2 and find the places. Careful-reading Answer the questions in each paragraph. Watch the flash and imitate the speaker’s pronunciation and intonation. Step 4. Post- reading 读后 (1) Guide the Ss to pay attention to how to give advice: using the words so, but, because. Ask the Ss to match the two parts of the sentences. Final task: presentation Play videos of Beijing and Zhangjiakou. Guide the Ss to work in groups of four and give a presentation: giving advice on visiting Beijing or Zhangjiakou. Invite some students to give a presentation in front of the class. 3. Show the pictures of the US and China, guide the Ss to realize that only in a peace world we can visit so many beautiful places in the world. So we should protect the world peace and be friendly to everyone from all over the world. 1. Match the two parts of the sentences together. 2. Final task: presentation. Give advice on visiting Beijing or Zhangjiakou and give reasons. Use because, but and so. Prepare for the task in groups of four, discuss with partners. Give a presentation in front of their classmates. 3.
