1 The status and the fun_ction
This?lesson?is?a?reading?passage,?which?focused?on?the?topic?of?fairy tales, ?such?a?topic?can?arouse?the?S’s learning?interests.?If the students can learn this period well they can learn the importance of self-reliance and independence.
2 Teaching objectives
Knowledge objectives:
(1) Ss understand the main idea of the passage.
(2) Ss have a brief understanding of the text type.
(3) Ss can tell a story
Ability objectives:
(1)Ss can make and talk about predictions
(2)Ss can summarize key parts of a story
(3)Ss can understand?the?whole?article and rewrite the play.
Emotional objectives:
Whatever you do
Wherever you go
Be independent and never give up!
3. Teaching key points
(1) To learn about the western fairy play, read and understand the whole play ,then try to perform
(2) To develop?their?reading?skills?such?as? skimming,?scanning,
? summarizing?language points
4. Teaching difficult points
(1) It is the first time for students to read the text type –play. Understand the form of western fairy tales and perform the play.
(2) To acquaint Ss with the moral messages it contains.
(3) Develop?the?ability?of?skimming?and?scanning.?
Ⅳ Part2 The analysis of the students
Although they are afraid of reading, they are?curious and active,?and?fond?of fairy tales, and various of activities. They enjoy learning?through?cooperation in a relaxing atmosphere.
ⅤPart3 Teaching methods
According to the analysis of the teaching material and the students, I'll mainly use communicative method and task-based method.
Besides,?CAI,?blackboard are needed as the teaching aids.

Step2 While reading(tasks 1-5)
Task1. Look quickly through this text, answer the questions.
1.What kind of text is it?
A. a letter B. a play C. a short story
2. How do you know that?
(Purpose: The text type is helpful for Ss to understand the passage)
Task2. Go through the passage, answer the questions below.
1. Who are the main characters?
2. How many times were H and G sent to the forest? Did they die in the forest?
(Purpose: These questions can help Ss have a general and better understanding of the whole text. Their skimming ability for the main idea is trained)
Task3 Pair work Read scenes1-4 carefully . Find out some key words from each scene. And match each description with the correct scene in 2c. Discuss in pairs

(Purpose: Finding out the key words and summarizing key parts of a story help Ss understand the article and then they can use them to talk about the story.)

Step 6 Tell a story
With the help of the key words they found and 3b rewrite the play. Then tell the story.
