It’s Saturday afternoon. Jenny and Brian go to visit Danny. When they arrive, Danny is outside in the yard.
Brian: Hi Danny. What do you have there
Danny: It’s a telescope. I told my father that we were studying the solar system. He said that I could use his telescope.(He looks through the telescope.) That’s funny! I can see only a tiny circle of light.
Jenny:(She laughs.) You’re looking through the wrong end, Danny! Try looking through the other end.
(Danny turns the telescope around and looks through it again.)
arrive为不及物动词,意为“到达,来到”,后接表地点的名
词时,需使用介词in或at。in用于指较大的地点,at则指比
较具体的小地点。
arrive at/in与get to/reach同义。
本句含有that引导的宾语从句。无论主句是陈述句还是疑问句,宾语
从句都应使用陈述语序。
含宾语从句的复合句,主从句谓语动词的时态呼应包括以下三点:
(1)如果主句的谓语动词是一般现在时,宾语从句的谓语动词可根据
需要,选用相应的时态。
(2)如果主句的谓语动词是一般过去时,宾语从句的谓语动词应用相
应的过去时态。
(3)如果宾语从句所表示的是客观事实、普遍真理、自然现象或习
惯性动作等,不管主句用什么时态,从句时态都用一般现在时。
辨析through与across:
through: 指在立体空间中穿过; 多指穿过门、窗、洞、
森林等。
across: 指从某事物表面的一边穿到另一边;多指穿过街
道、马路、桥梁、河流等。

表示一段时间的状语连用时应变为be in。

unless为连词,意为“除非,如果不”。由unless引导的条件
状语从句既可以是真实条件,也可以是非真实条件。
unless通常相当于if…not…。
worth意为“相当……价值,值得”,常用于
be worth+n./doing结构。
even if为即使;纵然 (= even though)从属连词词组,表
示假设情况,意为“即使……”,用来引导让步状语从句。
