过去进行时的用法
a.表示过去某一具体时刻正在进行的动作, 与特定的过去时间状
语连用。常见的时间有: at 8 last night, at this time, at that time,
at that moment 等。
· 昨天早上十点你正在做什么？
What were you doing at 10 yesterday morning
我那时候正在给我爸爸写信。
I was writing a letter to my father at that moment.

b.表示过去某段时间内正进行的动作。
· 我们去年冬天在建房子。
We were building a house last winter.
否定句和疑问句：
· 我们(那会)没有在家睡觉。We were not sleeping at home.

Language points
when引导的时间状语从句中的动词可以是瞬时性动词，也可以是延续性动词，而while从句中的动词必须是延续性动词。
when 说明从句的动作和主句的动作可以是同时，也可以是先后发生；while 则强调主句的动作在从句动作的发生的过程中或主从句两个动作同时发生。
由when引导的时间状语从句，主句用过去进行时，从句用一般用过去时；如果从句和主句的动作同时发生，两句都用过去进行时的时候，多用while引导，
when和while 还可作并列连词。when表示“在那时”；while表示“而；却”，表对照关系。
