Steps Activities Purpose
Warm up enjoy a video about transportation Activate Ss' interest. It can also activate Ss’ prior knowledge of transportation.
Lead-in teach new words and sentences new words: bike,subway,train, bus…… How do you get to school I take the bus to school. This aims at preparing Ss for the listening activities by inputting some new words and phrases.
Let’s predict Predict what may the students talk about Strengthen Ss’ ability of prediction and get them ready for the following listening
Let’s listen. Listen for the main idea: -What do they talk about Listen for the details -Fill in the table of how different students get to school Improve Ss' ability of listening for the main idea and listing for the details. Teach Ss some listening skills.
Let’s imitate Imitate the dialogue. Pay attention to the tones, speaker’s feelings and body language. This activity is designed to help Ss to practice their pronunciation and tone. Through imitating, Ss will get a better understanding of this dialogue.
Let’s role play. Talk with the partners and role play the dialogue. Ss will learn how to cooperate with others and be aware of the importance of teamwork. In this process, Ss’ ability of speaking and critical thinking is improved as well.
