Unit 3 Language in use Lead in While we’re staying with them, we’re going to spend one day in Qingdao．

We have celebrated the festival since the first pioneers from England arrived in America.一、什么是状语从句？
用一个句子（从句）来作另一个句子（主句）的状语，用作状语的句子就叫作状语从句。作什么样的状语就叫什么类型的状语从句。例如：用来表达一件事情或一个行为发生的时间的从句，叫作时间状语从句。Presentation 引导时间状语从句的词 有when，before，after， until，as soon as，while，since等。
1.由when 连接的时间状语从句
when表示“当……时候，那时” 。
例如: I was doing my homework when my father reached home. 我父亲到家时,我在做作业。二、常见的时间状语从句2.由before连接的时间状语从句 before表示“在……之前”。
例如：He studied here before he went to Beijing.
他去北京前在这里学习。3. 由after连接的时间状语从句 after表示“在……之后”
例如：
He wants to be famous after he becomes rich．
他变富有后便想出名。 4. 由until连接的时间状语从句
until 表示“直到” （从句常在主句后）, till是口语体，可以代替until。当用not...until...引导一个时间状语从句时一般意为“直到……才……”。
例如：They didn’t go back home until they finished cleaning their classroom.他们直到打扫完教室后才回家。He slept until it was nine o’clock（时刻）.
他直到九点才睡觉。5. 由as soon as连接的时间状语从句 as soon as表示“立即”，“一…… 就……”
例如:They quarrelled as soon as the wedding ceremony ended．
婚礼一完他们就吵了起来。6. 由while连接的时间状语从句While he was waiting for a bus, he was reading a newspaper. 他一边等车一边看报。
[注] when, as, while都有“当……时”的意思,它们除“在从句动作发生的同时,发生了主句的动作”这一相同的含义外,在用法上还有一定的差别。when表示一个动作紧接另一个动作发生或表示一个动作发生时另一个动作正在发生;
as表示两个动作同时发生,但持续时间较短;
while表示两个动作同时发生,持续时间较长,它引导的从句中的谓语动词须用延续性动词。When I got home, I had a short rest.
当我到家时,我稍作休息。
My mother was cooking supper when I reached home.
我到家时,母亲在做晚饭。I saw him as he was getting off the train.
他下火车时,我看见他了。While he was cooking supper, he was singing a song.
他一边做晚饭，一边唱歌。在时间状语从句中，主句和从句之间的时态 一致问题 一般 分 下 列两种情况：
1. 若主句是祈使句，或主句中有情态动词，或主句中谓语动词是一般将来时，那么从句用一般现在时表示一般将来时。 例如：
Be careful when you cross the road. 过马路时要小心。
Put up your hands if you have any questions to ask.
如果你们有问题要问的话，请举手。三、时态一致的问题 2. 若主从句谓语动词都是陈述过去，那么主从句都可以用一般过去时。例如：
