一、 教学设计与说明
1. 教学目标
本课为本单元的第 4 课时, 核心目标为引导学生在视听任务中学会提取关键 词获取 主要事实观点,理解并能描述生日习俗和韩国成人礼的文化背景。
2. 设计思路
Listening Practice 是一篇新闻报导, 与 Reading A 相呼应, 描述韩国成人礼, 适合 精听。 Viewing Practice 介绍了八个国家或地区的生日习俗, 适合泛看。两个 语篇都采用 General-specific 的语篇模式展开, 也是说明文中最重要最普遍的一种 语篇模式。教学中 要关注学生习得积累以动词为主的主题词汇(如 celebrate, mean, stand for, indicate, symbolize) ,也要关注语篇中的替代 such as 还有小词 for 等是 如何帮助展开具体描述的。
教学从 Viewing Practice 入手,以语篇结构为依托,帮助学生理清介绍习俗 语篇结 构和内容要素;以“我期待的成人意义”为线索,转向Listening Practice;分析应用报道习 俗的语篇的情境语境, 关注听力关键词, 获取语篇关键信息, 分 享对习俗中最打动人心 的部分的理解, 讨论传承习俗的意义。课后基于所学, 复 习罗列成人礼必要的元素或活 动, 继而继续研究, 选择不同国家写作叙述脚本, 制作介绍各国生日习俗的视频, 从基 本理解到深入理解,最终综合运用。
整个教学遵循从“看”到“听”的基本过程, 以教师--语篇--学生形成三者之间的 互动为 基本方法, 通过把握语篇模式, 掌握语篇结构与内容要素, 在学习活动中 促使学生习得 语言形式、迁移语言运用、把握语篇模式、分享传承意义。在整个 教学过程中, 渗透多 元评价,采用线上线下“混合式”学习。
3. 教学重点及难点 视听的过程通过关注说话人重音、语速等来获取关键信息;学 习运用总-分(平 行型) 的语篇模式与语篇中的指代与衔接来对比习俗差异及阐述传承习 俗的意义。
Lesson Plan
At the end of this period, students will be able to:
1. understand and integrate the information the Video clip Birthday Celebrations all over the world conveys and figure out the different birthday celebrations in different cultures through discourse analysis;
2. grasp the key information of the Coming-of-Age Day in South Korea and point out the elements needed for the introduction of a tradition;
3. share the understanding of traditions and customs learnt and discuss why we preserve the traditions today.
Procedures:
I. Lead-in
* Interactive Task 1: Review and brainstorm
*Teacher: Ask Ss questions about the birthday traditions they hold in their family or hometown. *Students: Answer the T's questions. Purpose: To activate the Ss'previous knowledge
Guided Questions:
1. What kind of birthday traditions are often held in yourfamily or hometown (本环 节指向 Textbook P59/III)
II. While-viewing and interactions
*Interaction Task 2: View and interact
*Teacher: Play the clip in silent mode and ask Ss to figure out the nations mentioned. *Students: Watch the video and find the nations mentioned. Purpose: To get a basic understanding of the video via visual information.
Guided Questions:
1. Could youfind out the nations or areas mentioned in the video (本环节指向 Textbook P59/I)
*Interaction Task 3: View, discuss and interact
*Teacher: Play and guide the Ss to pay attention to key nations. *Students: Take notes, fill in the blanks on the worksheet, and ask-and-answer in pairs. Purpose: To get more detailed information about birthday traditions around the world and form one's opinion towards traditions.
Guided Questions:
1. Could you write down the celebrationsfor the nations on the worksheet (本环节 指向 Textbook P59/II)
2. After listening, could you tell what elements they have mentioned (本环节结合 Textbook P58/IV)
3. Which way of celebration do yo-ufeel most interesting > ^^y ^ 本环节结合教师用 书 Suggested activities P66j/viewing2)
4. At what age, does one enter adulthood (本环节指向 Textbook P58/I,过渡)
III. While-listening and interactions
* Interactive Task 4: Predict what you might hear and listen
*Teacher: Ask students what they might hear, play the clip and guide Ss to listen. *Students: Guess what they could hear , listen for the 1st time and figure out the elements they heard. Purpose: To get the main idea of the clip andpay attention to thepattern a report usually uses.
Guided Questions:
1. What does becoming an adult mean toyo^ (本环节指向 Textbook P58/I)
2. As a news report, what elements will be covered when reporting the ceremony (本环节结 合 Textbook P58/IV)
*Interactive Task 5: Listen, discuss and interact
*Teacher: Play the clip again and guide the Ss to listen . *Students: Listening for the 2nd time and take notes for the key traditions mentioned, paying attention to topic related words and verb phrases preferred. Purpose: To grasp the key information, understand the meanings of the ceremony and pay attention to the languagefeatures used.
Guided Questions:
1. How does the speaker introduce these 3 elements (本环节结合 Textbook P58/IV)
IV. Post-listening interactions
*Interactive Task 6: Discuss and share
*Teacher: Guide the students to discuss the most impressive part they feel about the traditions mentioned *Students: Discuss and share their understanding of it, using topic sentence and supporting sentences. Purpose: To share understanding of traditions with the pattern learnt.
Guided Questions:
Among all the traditions mentioned, what elements or activities impress you most
Why
*Interaction Task 7: Discuss and interact
*Teacher: Guide the discussion on the importance of preserving traditions. *Students: Discuss and report their own ideas to the whole class. Purpose: To encourage students to use the languages and the pattern learnt accordingly with creativity.

Why is it so important to preserve our traditions Do the traditions or customs have something in common
V. Assignments
1. Finish Exercise IV on Page 58 in Students' Book: List the elements or activities necessary to describe a coming-of-age ceremony.
2. Make a video presentation in groups and you can:
Form in the groups of 4 on your own.
Choose four nations or areas to introduce their birthday traditions within 1 minute of each. You may choose some nations or areas you are interested.
Make a plan and distribute tasks to each group member.
Surf online for references to enrich your content and make a script before shooting.
Organize the introduction in the pattern today with vivid pictures and graphs, using words and phrases learnt. You can make it very interesting and attractive.
Edit the video presentation and upload to Study Group online within one week.
Grade and comment on the videos each other according to the rubrics given
Remember, everyone should be in charge of part of the video.
