推测可能性:must > could > might > can’t
Presentation
Look at the picture. Write the things you see in the correct columns in the chart.
(1) must情态动词,意为“肯定;一定”时,表示可能性很大的肯定推测,通常与be连用,此用法只能用于肯定句中。must (be)的否定结构是can’t ( be),意为“不可能(是)”。
(2) must 在肯定句和疑问句中还可意为“必须”,其否定形式是mustn’t,意为“一定不要;禁止”。
whose一般对物主代词或名词所有格提问,用于询问物品的所属关系。
(1) 被提问部分作定语时,用“Whose+名词+一
般疑问句?”结构。
(2) 被提问部分作表语时,用“Whose+一般疑问
句?”结构。

What’s wrong (with sb./ sth.) “(某人/某事)怎么了?”常用来询问某人遇到了什么事情、患了什么疾病或者某物出现了什么问题等。介词with 后引出询问的对象。
attend:出席,参加。常用于指“参加”会议、典礼、婚礼等。

think somebody must have picked it up. I’ll call
them now to check if anybody has it.

“the rest of+名词/代词”作主语时,谓语动词的数取决于of后的名词或代词的数。
(1) must have done “一定做过……”表示对过去已经发生的情况的肯定推测。表示否定推测要用“can’t have done”,意为“不可能做过……”。
(2) pick up是“动词+副词”型短语。代词作其宾语时,要放在pick与up之间;名词作其宾语时,既可放在pick与up之间,也可放在up之后。
anybody相当于anyone ,多用于疑问句、否定句中或if/
whether之后,意为“有人;任何人”;用在肯定句中,意为“随便哪个人”。
anybody作主语时﹐谓语动词要用第三人称单数形式

belong to “属于” ,to是介词, 后接名词(短语)或代词(用宾格形
作宾语。一般不用于进行时态和被动语态。
e.g. What group does he belong to
Lions and tigers belong to the cat family.
belong to sb. 通常可以和名词性物主代词或名词所有格互相转换。
e.g. The blue jacket belongs to him / Jerry. →The blue jacket is his / Jerry’s.

last 除用于句末外, 还常置于句子中间。

attend vt. 出席;参加
attend是正式用语,侧重指参加会议、婚礼、典礼,去上课、上学、听报告等。
e.g. I attended a night school.
Lester did not attend the wedding.
All of us went to attend the lecture given by Mr. Li.

形容词valuable修饰不定代词anything要后置。当形容词修饰不
定代词(something, anything, nothing等)时,形容词应放在不定代
词的后面。
5. I think somebody must have picked it up.
must在此处表示推测, 意为“一定”。
当情态动词后接have done时, 表达对过去的事情进行推测, 故
must have done something表示“过去一定做过了”这样的意思。
6. I’ll call them now to check if anybody has it.

常用于否定句或疑问句中; 用于肯定句时, 相当于any
person, “任何人”
e.g. I will not tell anybody the secret.

情态动词 用法 例句
must 表示很有把握的推测,意为“一定”,只用于肯定句。 The light is out. He must be sleeping.
could和might 表示不太有把握的推测,意为“可能”。 The pen could / might be Joe’s. I saw it on his desk just now.
can’t 表示很有把握的否定推测,意为“不可能”。 The girl here can’t be Helen. Helen has gone to Beijing.
