My sister turned and jumped as she skated beautifully across the ice. She performed a difficult move and then skated in my direction, her eyes filled with kindness. “Come on, don't be afraid. Just follow me!” She gently held me by the hand to the center and helped me put on my skates.
I liked figure skating very much. Encouraged by my sister, who had been learning figure skating for many years, I made up my mind to stand there although I was afraid.
To my great sadness, it was much harder than I had thought. Not only did the ground look more dangerous, but my skates were also more difficult to control. Though I had practiced many times with the help of my sister,I still couldn't keep my balance. Worst of all, I fell to the ground in a funny way. Disappointed and angry, I felt my face burn with shame. “No, I can't,"I said. “You can do it,” my sister said as she turned to me with a firm smile and eyes full of belief. “Let's try again.
I tried again, and this time, I focused my thoughts on every part of myself, trying to move inch by inch with all my will. As the saying goes, “Practice makes perfect.” Finally, I was able to move smoothly without any help.

As is known to all, pandas are a symbol of China. In fact, pandas are not only popular in China,
but are loved around the world.
In 1972, China gave the United States the gift of two young pandas to help open up relations between the two countries. Pandas quickly became an important symbol of peace and friendship. By 1982,China had given 23 pandas to nine different countries. However, most of them died. China stopped giving away pandas in the early 1980s. Instead1, the animals are loaned to other countries. In general, they are to be returned to China after 10 years.
Two giant pandas, “Da Mao” and “Er Shun”, returned to China from a Canadian zoo on Nov.29. On average, an adult panda eats about forty kilograms of bamboo every day. The zoo couldn't meet the pandas' needs because of the COVID-19 pandemic(流行病). In May,the zoo announced it would have to return the two animals four years earlier than planned in order that they could enjoy China's rich supply of fresh bamboo instead.
Why do these lovely animals find it hard to survive in other countries? Their nutrition(营养)mostly comes from bamboo shoots. Sometimes pandas can also be quite careful about their food. They refuse to eat bamboo shoots after they have blossomed(开花).It takes ten years for a new crop of bamboo to mature(成熟),and many countries do not have an environment suitable for bamboo to grow in. This means that food has to be bought from China.
There is still much work to be done to protect the panda and its habitat. “We
don' t own the pandas, but the whole world wants to help save the panda, and we do that through exchanging information on how to look after them,” an American director of the National Zoo told China Daily.
28.What does the underlined word “loaned” in Paragraph 2 probably mean

29.How much bamboo does an adult panda eat daily

30. Why do pandas find it hard to survive in other countries
A. They eat too much bamboo. B. Their eating habit is an important reason.
C. The COVID-19 pandemic stopped their bamboo supply.
D. Bamboo shoots have blossomed.
31.The text is probably from a .
A. They B. diary C. newspaper D. speech

Louis Bleriot was a French aviator(飞行员),inventor and engineer and had become very interested in flying aircraft while he was at school. He first decided to experiment with aircraft design, after seeing a flight show at the World Fair in Paris. For about eight years he experimented with several designs and escaped from two serious air crashes with relatively minor injuries.
In 1908, a British newspaper announced that it was offering 500 in prize money for the first person to make a flight across the English Channel, before the end of that year. When 1908 passed with no serious attempt to make the flight across the Channel, the prize money was doubled to 1,000 and the offer lengthened to the end of 1909.
On 25 July 1909, Bleriot decided to make his attempt. The distance of the flight was about 45 kilometres, his speed was around 70 kilometres an hour and he flew at a height of 45 to 90 metres. He did not take a compass for direction, but followed the ship Escopette, which guided him towards Dover (in England). During the flight visibility worsened and Bleriot later said, "For more than ten minutes I was alone and lost and couldn't see anything.”Fortunately, the clouds lifted and he was able to land his aircraft near Dover Castle,on the cliffs(悬崖).The actual contact with land was very hard. In fact, not only was the aircraft’s propeller (螺旋桨) broken, but part of the framework which carried the engine was also damaged. However, these damages were small compared to the success of the flight. Bleriot had crossed the Channel, had won the 1,000 prize and had survived uninjured.
After his success, Bleriot began his own aviation(航空/飞机制造业) company and produced 900 aircraft in the next five years. In 1927, when Charles Lindbergh became the first person to fly across the Atlantic Ocean from the USA to France,Louis Bleriot was there to meet him at the airfield. They were surely two of the bravest men that ever flew an aircraft and they pioneered an industry.
32. What can be learned about Bleriot when he was at school
A.He was interested in flying. B.He made his first-ever flight.
C.He presented his design at the World Fair.
D. He was seriously injured in an air crash.
33.What can be inferred about Bleriot's first cross-Channel flight
A. It was smooth and memorable. B. It was hair-raising but rewarding.
C.It was pleasant with good weather. D. It was deadly with a broken compass.
34. How did the author develop the text
A. By following space order B. By following time order.
C. By making a comparison D.By analyzing cause and effect.
35. What would be the best title for the text
A.A flight around the world B. The first person to fly an aircraft
C. A landmark in aviation history D.The worst aviation accident in history
