Listening comprehension is very important in the examination. It’s necessary for students to grasp the basic listening skills.In this class, we will explore the skills about direction and place.

Knowledge aims: 1.To understand the requirements for listening comprehension part in the testing syllabus for NEMT; Let Ss.have a clear understanding of listening skills. Ability aims: 1.To understand the requirements of listening skills; 2.To deal with the difficulties in listening comprehension by using effective listening skills. Affection aims: In this section, for one thing, students will learn to summarize the listening skills by themselves; for another thing, they will deal with the difficulties in listening comprehension by using effective listening skills. Focal point To develop and handle three important elements of listening skills—topic-based vocabulary, auditory discrimination and prediction. Difficult points 1.Develop students’ the listening skills and ability; 2.Deal with the difficulties in listening comprehension by using effective listening skills.

The students( Senior high school, Class 5) have formed a basic learning method of their own and have mastered some skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. However, the insufficiency of vocabulary and deficiency of listening skills still prevent them from listening correctly.

Step1 Greeting(1minute) Step2Warming up(4minutes) Leading students to watch a video about Faded. Invite some students to share with us. Brainstorm the reasons to the common problems. To arouse students’ interests and develop their creativity and critical thinking.
Step3 Presentation(7minutes) Introduction Ask students to read the requirements of examination. What problems they will have while listening Learn the listening steps. Read carefully and have a better understanding of listening exam. Let students know the main points of listening. In this step, what should be highlighted is that the teacher ought to give students enough time to brainstorm their problems.
Step4 Listening and discussing(25minutes) Listen to the conversations(from1 to 2) and try to summarize the rules. Listen to the conversations(from3 to 5) and try to summarize the rules. Listen to the conversations(from6 to 10) and try to summarize the rules. Have a class test. Have a combination with our test, then let students have another test again. Work in groups to discuss their conclusions. To arouse students interest and develop creativity in listening.
Step5 Give a summary(3minutes) Ask students what they have learned today Appreciate the listening skills. At the end of the class, students should learn more solutions to different listening skills so that they can reflect on them later, besides, they should learn to classify, analyse and solve problems.
Step6 Homework Preview or check yourself the special occasional vocabulary with your classmates. Read the special occasional vocabulary loudly. To strengthen what they have learned today and remember the words.

This section aims to develop students’ ability to logically listening skills of place and direction, in which students should clearly state problems they have during English listening and give advice in detail. So the teaching design is mainly focus on the topic-related expressions and the cohesion, the way in which the two topics are structured to form a unified text.
