Primary Four Unit 8 Fun time &Cartoon time
Teaching aims and learning targets:
By the end of this lesson, the students will be able to
1. describe the dolls, snowman, robots and other people;
2. use “his” and “her”;
3. understand the story and enjoy it.
Focus of the lesson:
1. Describing the snowman, robots and people with ‘his or her’
2. Understanding the cartoon story as a whole and acting it out in groups
Predicted area of difficulty:
The use of His/Her…is/are…
Teaching aids:
pictures, cards, objects, CAI
Teaching procedure:
Step 1 Warm up
1) Warm up: Play a game about opposite words: tall/short, big/small , …
2) Review the story. Show the students the dolls and use the opposite words to describe them.
Step 2 Presentation
1) Show the students a snowman without the face parts. Review the face words, eyes, ears etc.
2) Listen and draw the snowman. Invite a student to the front to draw one. Teacher draws the other one. Then check the answer.
3) Teach how to use “his” to describe the snowman.
Step 3 Practice
1) Sing a song about the snowman. Try to use “her” to sing about the other snowman.
2) Draw a robot on the card and describe it with the partner.
Step 4 Cartoon time
1) Show them a robot. Encourage the students to ask him some questions.
2) Watch the cartoon and answer questions
3) Read and act.
4) Work in groups to act the story out.
5) Say a chant about the story.
Step 5 Production
Students talk about the cartoon characters around us in groups.
Learn “Love our dolls. Love our friends. Love our life. It has no end.”
Homework
Draw a character you like. Describe it to your friends or partners.
