“The grass looks greener on the other side of the fence.”That’s an old saying in English. It means that other places often look better, more interesting than the place where you live.“Let’s go to KFC for dinner and then watch some Japanese cartoons!”We all know it: more and more Chinese kids love American and Japanese food and movies. Some people worry that young Chinese are beginning to feel that way. They see young Chinese ignoring Chinese culture , instead, buying Japanese cartoon books, watching Korean soap operas and even celebrating western holidays.
Foreign books and soap operas are good, but Chinese writers and actors are just as good. As for holidays, Christmas is nice, but it can never have the meaning for Chinese that the Spring Festival has, and the West has nothing to compare with the Mid-Autumn Festival. China has lots of cool things in its culture: calligraphy, Beijing Opera, quick meals on the streets, and even Jay Chou! And let's not forget the part of Chinese culture I like best : its friendliness. Not all countries are as warm as China.
It’s good to enjoy other cultures and to learn from them, but they can never replace your own culture. It’s good to look on the other side of the fence, but make sure you take a good long look. You will find that the grass isn’t always greener.
Although some people become worried about that, I don’t think they should. Will we get more powerful without learning from other countries Will Chinese people live more happily without American fast food Besides, it's fun to learn about different cultures. Chinese kids can learn about other cultures and have fun, but they also need to learn more about their own culture. Be proud of Chinese culture and of being Chinese !
24. The author thinks young Chinese .
A. are foolish in learning- our own culture
B. are ignoring our own culture
C. are interested in our own culture
D. are hating our own culture
25. In some young Chinese’s eyes, which of the following is not the“greener grass”
A. Japanese cartoon books.
B. Korean soap operas.
C. Christmas.
D. The Mid-Autumn Festival.
26. In the author's opinion, what is the best feature of Chinese culture
A. Friendly. B. Hard-working. C. Brave. D. Honest.
27. What is the best title for the passage
A. Chinese culture and western culture B. Simple young Chinese
C. That grass is not always greener D. Interesting western culture
C
Whenever Ms Zhang receives a series of voice messages on the WeChat messaging app from her mother, the 32-year-old woman looks at them and sighs. She doesn’t want to listen to them one by one, which can always be over a dozen in all. And she hates having to listen again if she misses something, “ I really don’t want to open them,” she says. “But what can I do She’s my mom.” Her mother, however, thinks that texting seems cold, and reading text on a phone screen is difficult for people at her age. So she also uses voice messages when communicating with her old schoolmates.
Now, sending voice messages is seen as a feature for seniors, plus a few groups such as salespeople and drivers. About nine out of 10 Chinese Internet users are on WeChat and half of them spend over 90 minutes a day on the app chatting, reading, working and shopping. There is no doubt that WeChat is where China’s national conversation takes place.
Most Chinese, however, don’t want to receive any voice messages at all. “ I don’t like WeChat voice messages because it is easy for the sender but inconveniences the receiver,” says Li Zhaojian, who is working in Guangzhou now.
WeChat’s 2017 user report shows that while people over 55 made up only 1% of the platform’s user base, one out of five messages they sent were voice, compared with one in 10 for users under 21. “ While users take nine seconds on average to read 100 characters, they need 22 seconds to listen to the same 100 characters,” says Liu Xingliang, head of research at the company Data Center about the China Internet. “ Only when you listen to WeChat voice messages will you find out how long a minute is,” he says.

A.Because it’s too hard for her to learn to text. B.Because her daughter has asked her to do so.
C.Because reading text is difficult for her. D.Because she thinks speaking is colder than texting.
30.According to the text, who might use text messages most
A.A driver who needs to work at night.
B.A teacher who retired five years ago.
C.A college student who will graduate next year.
D.A salesman who is busy promoting his products.

A.Sending voice messages is a big burden for the sender.
B.Most Chinese people like receiving voice messages.
C.Only 1% of people over 55 send voice messages.
D.Voice messages take the receivers a lot of time to listen.

People in the United States honor their parents in two special days: Mother's Day, on the second Sunday in May, and Father's Day, on the third Sunday in June. These days are set aside to show love and respect for parents. They raise their children and educate them to be responsible citizens(公民). They give children love and care. These two days offer an opportunity to think about the changing roles of mothers and fathers. More mothers now work outside the home. More fathers must help with childcare.
These two special days are celebrated in many different ways. On Mother’s Day people wear carnations. A red one symbolizes a living mother. A white one shows that the mother is dead. Many people attend religious services to honor their parents. They are also the days when people whose parents are dead visit the cemetery(公墓). On these days families get together at home, as well as in restaurants. They often have outdoor barbecues on Father's Day. These are days of fun and good feelings and memories.
Another tradition is to give cards and gifts. Children make them in school. Many people make their own presents. These are valued more than the ones bought in stores. It is not the value of the gift that is important, but it is“the thought”that counts. Greeting card stores, candy makers, bakeries and telephone companies do a lot of business during these holidays.
32. Which is NOT a reason for children to show love and respect for parents
A. Parents bring up children.
B. Parents give love and care to children.
C. Parents educate children to be good people.
D. Parents pass away before children grow up.
33. What do you know from the passage
A. Mother's Day and Father's Day are both in May.
B. Few women worked outside the home in the past.

D. Fathers are not as important as mothers at home.
34. Which do you think is right about“carnation” ?
A. It only has two kinds of colors.
B. It's a kind of flower showing love and best wishes.
C. It refers to the special clothes people wear on these days.
D. People should wear carnations only on the second Sunday in May.
35. On Mother’s Day and Father's Day, .
A. people usually have family parties B. everyone goes to visit the cemetery
C. children always go to parents' home D. handmade cards are the most valuable gifts

第二节:读后续写 (满分25分)
阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
Everything about moving day was a puzzle. I didn't know anything about our new building on a new street. Our old life was broken into pieces and packed up in piled boxes. I wondered if it would ever fit back together again.
Mom introduced me to our new neighbours, the Chens. Mrs Chen worked with Mom at the job she'd just started. Mr Chen was a famous craftsman(匠人) from China.
Mom said it was a fresh start, but it felt broken to me. I just wanted things to go back to how they had been before.
After the first day at my new school, I walked home alone. Mom had told me she had to work. I was still hoping she'd meet me after the bell. I had to open the door myself with the new key. I felt a bit hungry and went straight into the kitchen, ripping tape from the packed boxes while I searched for a clean plate. My fingers slipped, and something went crashing to the ground.
“Benjamin” cried Mom from the doorway. I didn't hear her come in. “What just broke ” she asked, kneeling to pick up the pieces. In her hands, I recognized the shattered pieces. It was Grandma's bowl. “I can't believe you broke this,” she said.
“Well, I can't believe we have to live here now! I can't believe I have to switch schools, and I can't believe you didn't even meet me after my first day” I ran into my room, slamming the door behind me.
The broom swept across the kitchen floor. Then the click of Mom's bedroom door closed behind her. I sneaked out into the kitchen and found the fragments in the dustbin. There were so many pieces in here, but maybe I could put them back together. Turning the pieces, I tried to match them, but this bowl would never look the same again.
“I'm sorry I yelled,” said Mom, as she opened her door. “Please just throw out the pieces. We can't make a fresh start with broken things.”
As I wandered down the hall, Mr Chen was emptying his garbage.

【原文】W: Yesterday, I went to a place called Sidelli with my family. It was really interesting. On the morning, we visited a theater. It was built 2,000 years ago beside the sea and people used to watch plays there in the open air. There used to be an old fishing village nearby. After that, we had a guided tour. Rather than go to the old palace, which is full of tourists, our guide took us up a hill and showed us around what’s left of a library. Most of it had fallen down, but it still had a fantastic atmosphere. We then took a bus into the countryside for lunch, and we ate next to a waterfall. Afterwards, we took a walk from there to a lake. In the afternoon, we chose to go on one of two different factory tours. One factory made pots and plates, which sounded dull to me, and one produced carpets. That was the one we went on. There were lots of traditional designs, all made by local people. It was Amazing. That was the last thing we did that day.

Paragraph 1:
“Are you sure you want to throw that out ” he asked. My throat twisted into a knot. “It's broken,” I murmured. “That's a simple e.” In their apartment, Mr Chen spread the broken pieces out like a jigsaw puzzle. After finding each match, he taught me to delicately rebuild the bowl, filling in the crack lines with a special paint. Finally, the bowl was together again. I held it gently in the palm of my hand and admired it for long. Slightly different, it was as beautiful as before. I couldn't wait to show it to Mom and rushed back home.
Paragraph 2:
I brought the repaired bowl into her room. Obviously, she was more than surprised to see the bowl again. “It's amazing” she marveled, running her fingertip over the fixed cracks. “Mr Chen helped me mend it. He is a superb craftsman,” I said with a grin. “Definitely. After being repaired, it looks much stronger than before” said Mom, smiling radiantly. I sat on the edge of her bed, and Mom reached out to me. Our hands joined with crisscrossed fingers, we both knew this was a new beginning.
