What do you think a “friend ”is
Show several meanings of “friend”.
Step 2 Pre - writing
Show the article After Twenty Years. It is a short story about Jimmy and Bob, two best friends.
Read the article and write an ending for this story.
How to continue to write an ending of a story
Read the article for:
The settings
The characters.
The plot line.
The principles to write an ending for a story.
The ending should be consistent with the text.
The ending should be positive energy.
The story should be twist.
Step 3 While - writing
Make a prediction.
What type of ending will it be
Where will the ending take place
How will the story end
Useful expressions
Settings: There was now a cold rain falling. In the dim light of a street lamp.
Characters: a familiar-looking man, scruffily dressed, neatly dressed, well-dressed…
Feelings: He is lost and helpless. He is lonely and tired.
Step 4 Post-writing
Give students a sample.
Pay more attention to the expressions that describe the settings and feelings.The plot of the ending should be accord with the given story, and the ending should be positive——Jimmy waited for his old friend, Bob in their appointed place. It expresses the preciousness of friendship.
