Language notes:
1. except prep. 除了……之外
except意为“ ”，强调不包括在内，一般表示同类之间的关系。
e.g. Everyone passed the exam except Jim.
besides 意为“ ”，表示包括在内。
e.g. Besides Tom,we all go on the trip.
except for意为“除……之外”，其后所接内容的主语同句子的主语不是同类的，指从整体中除去一个细节，含有惋惜之意。
e.g. Jim is handsome except for his small eyes.

一定要做某事； be sure of/about sth./doing sth. 意为“确信，对……有把握”， 其后常接名词、代词或动词-ing形式； 确保;务必;查明
