1. This week in school, we dicussed transportation.
in school 意为“在学校”。
● We must work hard in school. 我们应该在学校里努力学习。
辨析in school 与in the school, 两者都有“在学校”的意思。
① in school 含有“在学校上学”的意思。
● He is in school now.
现在他在上学。
② in the school 只表示“在学校,但并不一定是在上学”。
● He works in the school.
他在学校里工作。
Language points
2. We learned about trains, planes, bicycles, cars and rockets.
learn about意为“听说……,了解到……,获悉……”。
● We have learned about China a lot at geography.
我们已经在地理上了解到有关中国的很多知识。

3. The teacher asked us to think about the future of transportation.
ask sb. to do sth. 为固定短语,意为“请(叫)某人做某事”。
● They asked you to come on time.
他们教你准时到。
think about 为固定短语,意为“考虑”。
● I am thinking about a plan.
我正在考虑一个计划。
① 和ask 一样后面可跟动词不定式作宾语补足语的动词还有:tell, want, allow, wish, like , teach等。
● My friend wanted me to visit Beijing with her.
我的朋友想让我和他一起参观北京。
● The doctor allows my mother to wait inside of the room.
医生允许我妈妈在房间里等。
② ask 后还可以跟双宾语,即ask sb. sth.。
● Can I ask you a question
我能问你一个问题吗?

4. He called it "Flying Donuts".
call v. 意为“取名,把……叫做 ”,在句中后面的是双宾语。
● I call him Iron Ox.
我管他叫“铁牛”。
● Call black white.
指黑为白。
5. That sounds like a fun project!
sound v. 意为“听起来”,作系动词,后面可加形容词或介词短语。
● Her voice sounds very beautiful.
她的声音听起来很优美。
类似的词还有:smell, taste, look, feel, stay, get, turn, become等。
● The drink tastes like sherry.
这种酒闻起来像雪利酒。
● She looks like her mother.
她长得像她妈妈。
6. Our air would be a lot cleaner.
a lot cleaner 意为“干净得多”。 a lot在句中修饰比较级,表示程度,
意为“……得多”。
● If we work hard, our country will be a lot more beautiful.
如果我们努力学习,我们的国家将会更加美丽。
● He is feeling a lot better today.
他今天感觉好多了。
在句中可以修饰比较级的副词还有:much, even, still, a little, far,
a bit, many等。
● Space travel will become much cheaper.
太空旅行将会便宜得多。
● He is a little taller than his brother.
他比他哥哥高一点。
7. I pedalled for more than an hour!
(1) ① pedal v. 意为“骑自行车,踏……的踏板”。
● You will have to pedal hard up this hill.
走上坡时你必须用力蹬车。
● He pedalled his bicycle to the bookstore.
他骑车去了书店。
② pedal n. 意为“(自行车等的)脚蹬子,踏板”。
● The little girl is too short to reach the pedals on her bike.
这个小女孩太矮了够不到脚蹬子。
● He pressed his foot down sharply on the brake pedal.
他猛踩刹车踏板。
(2) more than 意为“以上,超过”,相当于over, 是口语中的用法。
● The old man is more than seventy years old.
这位老人70多岁了。
● —How often do you eat fast food
你多长时间吃一次快餐?
—More than once a week.
一周多于一次。
反义词组为less than , 意为“少于,不到”。

一周少于一次。
8. I hope your presentation goes well.
(1) your presentation goes well 意为“你的展示一切顺利”。此句在
句中作hope的宾语,即hope+that从句。
● We hope that we could see him again.
我们能希望再次见到他。
(2) go 作动词,意为“进展,进行”。
● Everything goes well.
一切进展顺利。

你知道事情进展如何?
