I had never been more anxious in my life.I had just spent the last three endless hours trying to get to the airport so that I could travel home. Now, as I watched the bus driver set my luggage on the airport sidewalk, I realized that my anxiety had only just begun.
This was my first visit alone to the international terminal of the airport, and nothing was familiar.I could not make sense of any of the signs. Where was the check-in counter Where should I take my luggage I had no idea where to go, feeling as if I were deaf and blind and stupid. I began to panic. What time was it Where was my plane I had to find help because I could not be late!
I tried to ask a passing businessman for help, but my words all came out wrong. He just frowned and walked away. What had happened I had been in this country for a whole semester, and I could not even remember how to ask for directions. This was awful! Another bus arrived at the terminal, and the passengers came out carrying all sorts of luggage. Here was my chance! I could follow them to the right place, and I would not have to say a word.
I dragged my enormous suitcase behind me and followed the group. We finally reached the elevators.Oh,no! They all fit in it,but there was not enough room for me.I watched in despair as the elevator doors closed.I was abandoned again! I had no idea what to do next.I got on the elevator when it returned and stared at all the buttons.Which one could it be I pressed button 3,because I thought I saw those passengers pressed 3, though it was no more than a quick glance. The elevator slowly climbed up to the third floor and came to a stop.A high, unpleasant noise announced the opening of the doors, and I looked around shyly.

Paragraph 1:
Tears formed in my eyes as I saw the empty hall and realized that I would miss my plane.Just then an elderly airport employee walked towards me from the corner. He saw that I was lost and asked if he could help in any way.He gave me his handkerchief to dry my tears as I related my predicament. He smiled kindly, and patted my shoulder to ease my anxiety, before leading me down a long hallway. We walked up some stairs, turned a corner, and at last, there was the check-in counter! He led me past all the lines of people and pushed my luggage to the inspection counter.
Paragraph 2:
When I turned to thank him for all his help,he was gone.I never got an opportunity to know that kind man's name, but I would always remember his unexpected kindness. He helped me when I needed it most.Without his timely help, I would have certainly missed my plane,I can only hope that one day I will be able to do the same for another traveller who is suffering through a terrible journey.UNIT 5 课时跟踪检测(三) 阅读写作融会练

When you look at a map of the Caribbean, you will see a bunch of little islands surrounded by blue waters, which include places that aren't always household names, like Montserrat and Anguilla.
While some of the names may not be familiar, the Caribbean is a popular holiday region. Those little dots on the map often turn out to be ideal resorts. There are thousands of islands in the area, many of which are sparsely(稀少的) populated but with breathtaking landscapes.
The biggest challenge you might face in planning your trip is choosing where in the Caribbean to go. All of the nations feature excellent weather. Most feature beautiful beaches. You can enjoy the waters in most of the Caribbean nations and as is often the case with island nations, you will be welcomed warmly by the locals. Here is some information to help you.
Unless you can walk on water or you cruise the Caribbean, the best way to visit is to fly. Some destinations have more frequent and cheaper flights than others. You should do some comparison shopping on flights to the Caribbean. And if you are planning on flying there during the Christmas holiday weeks, it's important to book as early as possible because prices will just keep going up as they get closer.
The Caribbean offers a wide variety of accommodation options. Check out the Caribbean hotels that are available to get a better idea of the various options. If you are on a tight budget, then the Caribbean could be challenging, as there are only a few cheap hotels and hostels that might help you save some money. Many people see the Caribbean from a cruise ship. There is no shortage of cruises that will take you through the region. You can go online to find the cruise or holiday package that is right for you.

Train travel is becoming more popular.Amtrak, the US national railroad passenger company, reports that the number of passengers continues to grow each year. The passenger kilometres and the number of passenger journeys are also increasing. There's every reason to believe train travel will continue to attract more passengers as fuel prices climb.
As you plan your vacation, you'll need to consider the advantages and disadvantages of train travel. Here are some things that you need to keep in mind.
Train travel is fast and direct between major cities, especially in countries with high-speed trains. It's relatively easy to book a train trip. In many countries, you can book your tickets online or go to a train station to buy them. For single or couple travellers, travelling by train can be much less expensive than renting a car, especially when you consider the cost of fuel and tolls (通行费).
However, train schedules may not match your preferred travel time and date, so you might have to change your trip. This is especially true for long-distance train travel in the US. You may have to get off the train at midnight at a small station in an empty town in order to make a train connection.
You need to bring your own food and drink onto the train as the food and drink served on trains can be expensive.Conditions on the train may be crowded, dirty or uncomfortable, especially during busy travel periods or in developing countries.
In the end, you'll need to do some research on train ticket prices, check schedules against your own plan and weigh the advantages and disadvantages of train travel against your personal preferences.
