文档简介

外研版七年级下册 Module 2 Unit 2 I can run really fast.教案
Objectives:
Students will be able to describe their abilities and compare them with others using the structure “can + verb.”
Students will practice speaking and listening skills through interactive activities.
Materials:
Whiteboard or blackboard
Markers or chalk
Flashcards with action verbs (run, swim, dance, sing, etc.)
Procedure:
Warm-up (5 minutes):
Start the class by showing the students a picture or video of a famous athlete or a sports event.
Engage the students in a brief discussion about the image, asking questions such as:
“Who is this person ”
“What sport are they doing ”
“What abilities or skills do you think they have ”
Introduction :
Introduce the topic of abilities by writing the sentence “I can run really fast” on the board.
Ask the students if they can guess the meaning of the sentence.
Explain that “can” is used to express ability or capability and that we use it to talk about things we can do.
Give more examples using different verbs, both related to sports and other activities (e.g., swim, dance, sing, etc.).
Use flashcards with action verbs to elicit the vocabulary and practice pronunciation.
Presentation :
Introduce the structure “can + verb” by writing it on the board.
Use visual aids, gestures, and facial expressions to help convey the meaning.
Drill the structure with the students, both as a class and individually, using the action verbs from the previous step.
Practice (15 minutes):
Divide the students into pairs or small groups.
Give each group a set of flashcards with different abilities written on them.
Each student takes turns picking a flashcard and makes a sentence using “can + verb” to describe that ability.
Encourage the students to ask follow-up questions to their partners, such as “How well can you do it ” or “How often do you practice ”
Consolidation :
Discuss the students’ findings as a whole class.
Ask a few pairs or groups to share some interesting abilities they discussed.
Summarize the main points of the lesson, highlighting the use of “can + verb” to describe abilities.
Conclusion:
Assign a homework task for the next class, such as writing a short paragraph about their own abilities or conducting interviews with family members or friends about their abilities.
Encourage the students to practice using “can + verb” in real-life situations.
Extension (optional):
If you have extra time or want to provide additional activities to reinforce the lesson, consider the following options:
Role Play: Divide the students into pairs and assign them different scenarios where they can demonstrate their abilities. For example, one student can pretend to be a coach evaluating the other student’s sports skills. Encourage them to use the target language (“can + verb”) in their dialogues.
Ability Survey: Have the students create a survey with questions about different abilities and distribute it to their classmates. They can practice asking questions using “can + verb” and record their findings. Then, they can present their survey results to the class.
Writing Practice: Ask the students to write a short story or paragraph about a fictional character with extraordinary abilities. Encourage them to use the target language and include descriptive details about the character’s abilities. They can then share their stories with the class and engage in a discussion about their favorite characters.
Listening Comprehension: Play a short audio clip or video related to different abilities or sports. Afterward, ask the students comprehension questions about what they heard or watched. This activity will reinforce their listening skills and give them the opportunity to practice using the target language in their responses.
Closing:
Review the language and content covered in the lesson by asking a few comprehension questions or engaging the students in a brief quiz or game.
Encourage the students to continue practicing using “can + verb” outside the classroom by discussing their abilities with friends and family.
Thank the students for their participation and summarize the main points of the lesson
Provide any necessary reminders or announcements about upcoming assignments or assessments.
Homework:
Assign the previously mentioned homework task, such as writing a paragraph about their abilities or conducting interviews. Collect the homework in the following class and provide feedback to the students.
