Step1 lead-in
A free talk about autumn’s colours .teacher:Autumn is colourful.
Ask ss to revise the colours of a rainbow.T:A rainbow is colourful . It’s beautiful.If there are only black and white,what would the world be like The students give answers.
The teacher shows two pictures,one without colours ,the other with colours,to the student to talk about their feelings.
T:Colours are magical and powerful.They can influence our feelings and moods.
Step2 Pre-readingr
Ask ss to look at the picture and guess what the main idea of the article. They can get it from the title.
Skim the article and answer the question:Can colour change our moods And read again .Answer:How many kinds of colours can you find in the article What are they
By reading ss know the structure of the article.
Share the skills:when skimming,reading the title and the main heading is important.
Ask ss to answer the six colours in the article.
Ask ss read quickly again.
Show the question:What does each colour represent

Step3. Further-reading
Ask ss to read calm colours carefully and finish the table:What can calm colours do
Ask ss to answer: What things are blue Ss can answer: the shy ,the sea….the things in their life .

Ss think over and discuss in groups,then share their answers.
Ask ss to read energetic colours and tell T from F and and understand the text better.
Read strong colours and complete the following charts.
