Do you want to go to take a vacation in Northern Ireland If you do, here are some places where you can go.
The Sperrins, County Derry and Tyrone
The Sperrins are Northern Ireland's largest mountains and also its least explored. Starting from Strabane in County Tyrone to the shores of Lough Neagh in the east, Northern Ireland's largest upland area is a designated (指定的) Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The Mournes, County Down
The wild scenery of the Mourne Mountains sweeps down to the sea. It is the place where C.S. Lewis found his fantastic winter land of Narnia come to form in his mind, which inspired him to write The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The Mourne Mountains in County Down are famous for a lot of things such as challenging peaks and clear lakes.
Dunluce Castle, County Antrim
The ruin of Dunluce Castle sees a long and amazing history. The castle was first built on the amazing coastal cliffs (悬崖)of north County Antrim by the MacQuillan family around 1500. The earliest written record of the castle was in 1513. The amazing history of Dunluce is matched by tales of how the castle kitchens fell into the sea one stormy night in 1639.
Carrick a Rede Rope Bridge, County Antrim
Connected to the cliffs by a rope bridge across the Atlantic Ocean. Carrick a Rede Island (home to a single building — a fisherman's small house) is the final destination (目的地). Suspended (悬空的) almost 100 ft (30m) above sea level, the rope bridge was first made by a fisherman 350 years ago. Of all the crazy Spanish festivals, none is wilder than the Carnival celebrations in late February. Carnival is thought to come from the Roman festival, the Saturnalia, where participants had much drinking and dancing. Carnival in Spain is celebrated nationwide though the craziest festivities are in the Tenerife and Cadiz. While each town has its own unique way of celebration, they are both devoted to having a good time. In these main towns during Carnival it seems that no one sleeps as the drinking and dancing go on from dusk till dawn. You'll see beautiful costumes and people in masks everywhere, and you'll have a lot more fun joining in the ball than just watching.
The Carnival in the Tenerife is possibly the biggest party held in Europe and the one most like the famous Carnival of Rio. One of the most popular events of the Carnival in Tenerife is the choosing of the Queen of Carnival. Keep in mind that you need tickets for many of the competitions. But if you can't get tickets you can still head to the open air parties. The celebrations take place in the whole city, and everyone is eager to have a good time.
Off the southern coast of Spain, you'll find a different sort of Carnival in Cadiz. While it's a match for the Carnival in Tenerife in terms of fun and partying, the Carnival in Cadiz is special for its music. The crowded streets are full of musical groups, mostly singing mocking songs. The people in Cadiz are known to have the best sense of humor in Spain, and the music of Carnival reflects this. The costumes have a focus on cleverness.

Mr Taylor checked again: water, food, bandage, medicines, a compass, and a map wrapped in plastic ... Bingo! He put all that he prepared for the coming hiking into his backpack.
Mr Taylor was fond of hiking, this time in particular, for it was the first time for him to hike with his two sons, Harry and Joel. Joel liked reading books about explorers and Harry joined the hiking club in his school this term. “It will be an unforgettable experience, definitely.” he whispered to himself, unconsciously a smile spreading over his face.
Harry and Joel, however, argued for the first three miles of their hiking trip. Harry accused Joel of wearing smelly old shoes. Joel blamed Harry for using all of the bug spray (喷雾防虫剂). Harry told Joel he smelled terrible. Joel called Harry a coward (懦夫).
“Will the two of you just quiet down and enjoy our hike together?” their father said. “You're missing all of the beautiful scenery!”
It was true. Neither Joel nor Harry had taken notice of the bear their father had spied at the start of their trip. They hadn't looked up at the eagle he pointed out overhead. Worst of all, they hadn't paid any attention to the turns and twists along the way while they continued their argument.
“Joel threw a stick at me!” Harry screamed. “That's not true!” Joel shouted back.
Mr Taylor could no longer contain his anger. “And both of you need to stop arguing!” he erupted. As he turned to face them, his left foot caught on a root. He slipped backward and down muddy bank, falling into the river that ran alongside the path.
Harry and Joel raced to their father's assistance. They helped him up out of the water, and then dragged his wet backpack up onto land.
Fortunately, their wet through father found himself just slightly injured.

Paragraph 1:
But his glasses came off when he fell in the water. Harry and Joel waded back into the river. Twigs and leaves swirled around their ankles before floating away on the current. No glasses! Harry thought they might have been swept downstream. But Mr Taylor couldn't see without his glasses. Everything was a blur to him now. How could they get home “Oh great! Now we're lost,” groaned Joel, “and it might be days before someone finds us.” “No thanks to you.” Harry blamed.
Paragraph 2:
“Just calm down.” Mr Taylor shouted, “Without my glasses, we need to work together to find our way.” Mr Taylor fumbled in his backpack and pulled the map and the compass out. Luckily, Joel learned how to read a map from his books, and Harry knew how to use a compass from his hiking club. They stopped arguing, looked down at the map, searched for the river and used the compass to find the direction. In relief, Mr Taylor beamed proudly, “You two will save the day. You're pretty good hiking partners!”UNIT 4 课时跟踪检测(三) 阅读写作融会练

The first people in Canada crossed the Bering Strait from Asia.In the north the Inuit lived by hunting seals, walruses (海象) and whales. They also hunted caribou (北美驯鹿).On the west coast people hunted deer, bear and beaver (河狸).They also fished. On the plains people lived by hunting buffalo. In the east people grew crops of beans, squash (南瓜), maize (玉米) and sunflower seeds.
The first Europeans to reach Canada were the Vikings. In 986 a Viking called Bjarni Herjolfsson was blown off course by a storm and he spotted a new land. However, he sailed away without landing. In 1001 a man named Leif Eriksson landed in the new land, which he named Vinland (it was part of Canada). However, Eriksson did not stay permanently.Later the Vikings did establish a colony (殖民地) in North America but they abandoned it because of conflict with the natives.
However, after the Vikings, Canada was forgotten until the end of the 15th century. In 1497 the English king Henry Ⅶ sent an Italian named John Cabot on an expedition across the Atlantic to Newfoundland. Cabot discovered rich fishing waters off the coast of Canada.
Then in 1534 and in 1535-1536 a Frenchman named Jacques Cartier (1491-1557) sailed on two expeditions to Canada. On 10 August 1535 (St Lawrence's Day) he sailed into the St Lawrence River, which he named after the saint.
However, no permanent European settlements were made in Canada until the early 17th century. In 1603 a Frenchman named Samuel de Champlain (1567-1635) sailed up the St Lawrence River. In 1604 he founded Port Royal in Acadia (Nova Scotia). In 1608 Samuel de Champlain founded Quebec. (The name Quebec is believed to be an Algonquin word meaning a narrow part of a river). In 1642 the French founded Montreal. The new colony in Canada was called New France. By 1685 the population of New France was about 10,000.By 1740 it was 48,000.

After spending a term in Spain, I have been trying to work out which common impressions on Spain have some truth in them and which don't. __1__
Spain is always warm and sunny. This is not true. The city I stayed in, which is in central Spain, often becomes colder than London in winter. However, the city receives little rain all year round and gets very hot in summer.__2__In Andalusia of southern Spain, for example, the temperature can be cool but pleasant in winter, but becomes very high in summer.
The Spanish love to have fun. __3__The Spanish people I meet tend to be very warm and open. Spaniards love to celebrate life through different festivals throughout the year. As well as religious festivals, they celebrate others such as La Tomatina, a festival in Valencia where people throw tomatoes at each other.
__4__This is true. Both locals and tourists enjoy watching Flamenco shows just as much, especially in Andalusia. It is also possible to see them in Madrid and Barcelona, but they tend to be more for tourists. I recommend seeing a Flamenco show in Cadiz or Jerez de la Frontera. The flamenco in Cadiz takes on a more cheerful style. Maybe this is because the people of Cadiz live by the sea and have access to beautiful sandy beaches.
Spain is a fascinating country, in which you are sure to have lots of fun. I find that a lot of the common impressions on Spain hold some truth. __5__ Spanish culture is very complex and the traditions and culture, as well as food and weather, can vary between regions.

Making my way slowly along the cliff (悬崖) face, I gazed (注视) at the great appearance of each temple I passed. As I entered the first cave and looked up at the feitian, I wondered how many hundreds of thousands of others, from near and far, have looked at the same great paintings and statues.
Sometime between the 4th and 14th century, Mogao was an important Buddhist center connecting East Asia and South Asia. Hundreds of caves were carved into a cliff face running along the Daquan River. Located on the ancient Silk Road, one of the great trade routes in ancient times, it created an environment of artistic and cultural exchange between the different cultures.
My personal adventure to Dunhuang had taken me, by way of train and bus, from Xining in Qinghai Province to Lanzhou in Gansu Province, and through the Jiayu Pass. From there, I continued on through Yumen Pass, also known as the Jade Gate, and crossed the Gobi Desert to find this small and sleepy desert town, and to see these caves for myself.
As I explored the temples, I was amazed by the vividness of the paintings and statues. It was almost as though they were painted or carved the day before. I had discovered the reason why people travel.
There are more than 2, 000 coloured statues that were carved 1,500 years ago. More than 1,400 statues are well protected so they can still be appreciated. During the thousand years of artistic activity, the style of the wall paintings and statues changed. The early caves show greater Indian and Western influences, while during the Tang Dynasty the influences of Chinese painting styles became noticeable.
Today, the Mogao Caves stand out from the desert like a shinning pearl on the Silk Road.

“This material is called xiangyunsha,” said Song Fei, while she introduced a traditional cheongsam (旗袍) to customers in a flagship shop. “Dyed with pure plant extracts and unpolluted river mud, the time honored silk cloth is named ‘soft gold’ in the textile (纺织的) industry.”
To everyone's surprise, the knowledgeable Song, who has unbelievable insights into cheongsam, a body hugging one piece Chinese dress for women, has practiced law for 10 years in Chengdu City. In 2017, she traveled to Suzhou to learn design and handicraft skills of cheongsam and traditional costumes, becoming a cheongsam designer.
At first, Song's family and friends were not optimistic about her choice to switch from a distinguished career to an artistic field. Knowing little about clothing, Song met with a huge challenge. “The pain was unthinkable, but since I had chosen that profession, I had to stick to it. I want a career that I truly enjoy,” said Song.
Song returned to Chengdu with new skills and creative passion in 2019 and founded her design brand. “To be honest, compared with my previous job, this one is harder and leaves me with much greater financial pressure. But my sense of satisfaction is beyond comparison when my works are recognized and appreciated,” said Song.
“Traditional cheongsams are one piece tailored dresses of Chinese origin that require making with natural materials by hand. However, modern cheongsams are often made with artificial materials and produced by machine,” Song said. “In the face of rapid social and economic changes, traditional cheongsams are receiving less attention due to the popularity of mass produced cheongsams.”
To save the beauty of traditional culture, Song wants to blend people's daily lives with time honored handicrafts, believing that traditional culture should not be the zone of museums. She aims to pass on traditional Chinese culture, which is a meaningful type of work with social responsibilities.

Before coming to China 10 months ago, I knew nothing much about China. My little knowledge was through television programs and lectures on community medicine in which China played a key role in ancient medicine. Previously, in my local community where I lived with my grandmother, I only knew China as a nation in East Asia with its popular movie actor, Jackie Chan. Having a history teacher as an uncle motivated me to read and study the histories of nations, and Chinese history captured my heart. After studying Chinese history, I would strongly say that China is a reflection of light to nations of the world that have lost faith in themselves, particularly African nations.
My aim of coming to China is to study in the MBBS program at Hainan Medical University and acquire skills that will make me useful when I go back to Nigeria. Furthermore, developing my spoken Chinese language skills from my Chinese friends and listening to Chinese folktales truly touch my heart to love and embrace Chinese culture with so much diversity. Spreading the history and showing respect for the national flag have made the Chinese people so patriotic (爱国的).
I understand in China that agriculture is a vital industry not just for rural people alone; this sector employs over three hundred million farmers, as well as feeding the nation at large. The agricultural sector has a great impact on the economy of China.
As a result, my stay in China has taught me that food is an important medicine to the body. Back in Nigeria I never had such understanding until I came to China and observed that the Chinese did not eat just to get satisfied, but eat to be healthy. They serve their dishes based on the seasons and most times add vegetables to their meals to strengthen their immune systems.

When you travel, you expose yourself to different people. __3__ It's a great learning experience for both you and the other person because you can share and exchange your own ideas and opinions on a range of topics.
