“The Dakota language is ‘the most important aspect’ of Dakota culture.Without it, our Dakota culture would no longer exist,” Peters claimed.“I was lucky to grow up around many first-language Dakota speakers. But now the elderly continually passed away and at the end of their lives, they just wanted to know their families would continue to have the language. One of the problems our people have is finding ways to get at-length and consistent exposure to the language.”

Aki a Peters wants to tell the youth that if they want to learn their own language, sit with their elders and learn from them.Endless vocabulary sheets could discourage them from learning.Standards created by non-speakers could also do that.“Within the next decade, I assume, I, my colleagues, and other Dakota-learning relatives will have children and start a new generation of Dakota.I also hope my brothers and sisters will take the path we laid out for them and continue to learn and speak Dakota. On my reservation there are numerous young people working on the comeback of the language.I'm hopeful because I'm definitely not alone,”Aki a Peters told Teen Vogue.

__8__ Some jobs may seem dull but are important to society, while others can appear exciting but are actually difficult and boring. One example is the so-called “cool job” of being a model or an actor. These people seem to be living a better life than others.Actually, they have to make far greater efforts than ordinary people and only a few of them are successful.Meanwhile, those who are successful and famous have to deal with constant media attention.__9__
Other popular professions include careers in law or business. Many people have ambitions to become successful as a lawyer or business person.__10__ These can be well-paid and interesting jobs, but you also have to work long hours.
On the other hand, some people find more unusual jobs suited to their talents and interests.Once I met a young man whose job was to check noise pollution in a park zone.He loved camping, and his job was like a holiday for him.__11__ There are many other people doing unusual jobs, and they love their jobs, which might not be popular, but are interesting.
Likewise, many ordinary jobs, such as shopkeepers, drivers and barbers, may look plain, but they are necessary to society.Without them, we would not go about our daily lives.

Ⅲ.概要写作
阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。
Seniority in Promotion Is Not a Wise Business Practice
It's not always an easy decision for companies when it comes to filling managerial spots. In the past promoting an employee has been popularly handled by means of basic analysis of the employees' past performance and seniority. In some cases, the individual's performance has been considered more important while in others the amount of time they have been with the company has been the deciding factor.Nevertheless, seniority is a standard that has never been left out. However, in the contemporary business world, the importance of seniority in promotion is being destroyed as a growing number of companies look outside of their organizations when trying to fill top managerial spots.
Unlike experienced employees who have been with the company for a long time, new people are more likely generate creative ideas. In rapidly changing markets, innovative and creative talents are sought by many companies in order to adapt to the market. To meet their needs, companies have more to gain by selecting outside employees since they are more willing to try new techniques and less afraid of breaking tradition when introducing new ideas. Thus, rather than promoting existing employees, it might be a wiser management decision to bring in outside talent.
An additional advantage to this new system is that it prevents employees from feeling that they only need to wait for their seniority to provide them with a promotion.Simply put, no matter how long they have been with the company, employees have to contribute diligently to the organization if they want to move up the career ladder. As soon as people realize that the company could just as easily bring in a new person, employees will stop judging themselves against each other because they are no longer competing against their colleagues but everyone in the entire industry. As a result, they will begin to show more effort to bring the level of their work up to what they imagine is a much higher standard.
参考范文:
Nowadays, more companies prefer to select outside employees in promotion instead of considering employees' past performance and seniority mainly for two reasons/advantages.(要点1) One is that outside employees are more likely to produce creative ideas, which helps companies adapt to the market.(要点2) The other is that it stops employees thinking their seniority guarantees a promotion, which helps enhancing employees' work level.(要点3)

(2023·重庆质量调研) Growing up in the neighbourhood of South Central Los Angeles, Ghuan Featherstone only remembers riding a horse with his parents at a nearby park when he was eight years old.
But ever since, he's been chasing that sense of freedom and power he felt on the horse that day.“I felt like I could conquer (征服) anything,” Featherstone, now 51, said in a StoryCorps interview last month with Jordan Humphreys, a 13-year-old horseback rider. After serving in the army for eight years, Featherstone remained determined to realize his childhood dream of becoming a cowboy.
When he returned to Los Angeles, he learned to ride at stables (养马场) known as “The Hill” in Compton.Riders there would jump on their horseback and take their horses into the city streets. In 2012, a fire burned down The Hill. What had become a shelter for the youth was suddenly gone.Sensing the void (空白) after the fire, Featherstone opened his own stable, Urban Saddles, in 2019 to create a space where he could teach kids like Humphreys to care for and ride horses.
As a black man, Featherstone is against prejudice.People of colour are often prevented from pop culture and historical representations of the cowboy. His stable has helped keep the cowboy lifestyle alive in the streets.“Riding through the streets on horseback has given me a way to connect with others in the community,” said Humphreys.“It makes them happy seeing us on a horse and then they may be smiling, and I believe that when we come through, we give them a sense of hope,” he added.
If there's one lesson Featherstone hopes to convey to kids, it's a respect for all life.“We're respecting the animals and we're respecting each other,” he said.
