Step 1 Lead-in

The teacher writes the title “Great books” on the blackboard and encourage the students to talk about their favourite books.

Step 2 Guessing game
1.The teacher shows three pictures on the big screen:Confucius,Shakespeare and Mark Twain.Then ask the following questions in Activity 1:
(1)Who are they
(2)Why are they famous
2.Ask students to answer the questions about the characters in the three pictures.

Step 3 Listening
1.The teacher plays the recording and asks the students to listen to the dialogue in Activity 2.They should pay attention to the pronunciations of the words.
