Unit 1 Nothing is more enjoyable than playing tennis.
I. The analysis of the teaching material
This unit is from Module 3 .Such a topic is related to our daily life. So it’s helpful to raise learning interest of students and it will be also helpful to improve the physical quality of the students. This unit is in the important position of the teaching material. Since it’s a dialogue, it’s focused on improving students’ listening and speaking. At the same time, the section is the first part of this module, so if students can learn it well, it will be helpful to make the students learn the rest of this unit.
II. The analysis of students
The students have learned English over one year. They can understand some simple sentences and make short conversations. They are curious, active and fond of game, competition and various activities. They enjoy learning through cooperation in a relaxing atmosphere. Besides, this topic is close to the life, which can accelerate them to learn English and know sports better.

VIII. Teaching procedures
Step1. Lead in
Enjoy a video of Kobe’s performance in 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Let students become interested in the topic sports.
(Purpose: Students are easily attracted to the topic of this module and eager to know more about it.)
Step2. Listen and number
Listen to the conversation and number the sports as you hear them.
(Purpose: Simple conversation is easy for students and they can get answers without any trouble. Besides, students can get the names of the sports, which can enlarge students’ vocabulary.)
Step3. Talent show
Several students show the talent in the sport that they are keen on. Then use the adjectives in the box to describe their favorite sport.
(Purpose: Students are eager to show themselves in the sport that they are good at. They also learn to use adjectives to describe the sports. They can be much more confident.)
Step4. Listen and read
Listen to the tape and try to do the true or false in Activity 3
(Purpose: Exercises after listening and reading can make students focused on the listening.)
Step5. Read in two groups
Read the conversation in two groups and pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.
(Purpose: Reading aloud is helpful to pronounce every word correctly and it’s also a good way to improve students’ sense of reading.)
Step6. Language points

(Purpose:Be familiar with the pattern of the sentences .Try to use the comparison correctly and cultivate students’ spirit of cooperation.)
Step9. Music Sky
Listen to the music and sing the song “We will rock you”.
(Purpose: Let students know more about sports and form a relaxing atmosphere .Students can learn English in a good condition.)

① Remember the words and phrases in the unit.
② Make a sport poster
(Purpose: Catch the key points in this unit and learn to make a poster with photos and descriptions.)
