Unit 1 Is this your mum?
一、教学目标:
1. To talk about your family members.
2. To listen and understand familiar topic.
3. To learn some key words and useful expressions.
二、教学重难点:
1. 单词和词组: brother, cousin, daughter, family, grandfather, parent, son, sister, uncle,
a photo of…, in front of…, on the left, next to。
2. 能听读有关介绍家庭的简短对话,辨认对话中的人物关系。
3. 能用指示代词来介绍自己的家庭,询问他人的家庭情况。
三、教学准备:
本课指导学生通过听力获取信息,培养学生听力技能。课堂上采用多媒体手段辅助教学,在轻松愉快的氛围中,在较真实的语境下,并联系学生生活实际,结合已有的知识和经验,运用所学的语言基础知识自我学习、互相学习,让学生在语言实践中相互启发、生成,体验成功。培养学生的合作精神,发展其思维和想象等能力。在教学过程中,采用多媒体手段辅助教学,利用各种图片和习题任务贯穿整个教学过程。因此,本节课需准备: PPT课件、挂图、录音机、课堂练习表格、奖品。
四、教学过程:
Good morning, everyone. My name is Li Youmei. I come from LuXi School. Today I’m going to talk about the topic “Is this your mum ” I will divide the instruction into six parts, they are Teaching material analysis, Teaching aims, Teaching emphasis and difficulties, Teaching methods, Studying methods and Teaching steps.
Part 1 Teaching material analysis
This unit is the first lesson of Module 2. It is focused on the topic of “ Tony’s family”. It’s mainly focused on students' listening and speaking abilities.
Part 2 Teaching aims
1. Aims of the knowledge:
(1) To know the spelling of some words and us age of some phrases.
(2) To understand conversations on family members.
(3) To briefly talk about one’ s family.
2.Aims of the abilities:
(1) To develop the students’ abilities of listening and speaking.
(2) To train the students’ abilities of working in groups.
(3) To develop the students’ abilities of communication by learning the useful structures.
3.Aims of the emotion:
(1) Cultivating students' love for family and care for family members.
(2) Understand the difference between western families.
Part 3 Teaching emphasis and difficulties
1. To understand the key vocabulary and key structures.
2. To understand the usage of “this、that、these、those”.
3. Can use the words to introduce the family members.
Part 4 Teaching methods
1. Communicative method.
2. Audio-visual teaching method
3. Task-based teaching method
The main instructional aims of learning English in the Middle School is to cultivate students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing and their good sense of the English language. So in this Unit I’ll mainly use “Communicative” teaching method, “Audio-visual” teaching method and “Task-based” teaching method. I’ll let the students to get a better understanding of the key structures of the conversations.
Part 5 Studying methods
1. To develop the Ss’ abilities of listening and speaking.
2. To train the Ss’ ability of working in groups.
3. To develop the Ss’ abilities of communication by learning the useful structures.
Part 6 Teaching procedures
Step 1 Warming - up
1. Let the students listen to the song “ I love my family”. And ask them to answer some questions:
(1) What is the song about
(2) What can you remember about the song
(3) Do you enjoy it
(4) Do you love your family
2. Let the students look at some pictures about family.
(1) Do you have a happy family Can you show us a photo of your family.
(2) How many people are there in your family and who are they
Step 2 Learning
1. Let the students look at the photo of Tony’s family. And talk about his family members.
2. Ask the students to say the members of family like this:
3. Then let the students remember the words, then ask and answer in groups.
Step 3 Listening
1. Listen to the tape then choose the best answer.

3. Let the students open their books , then read the conversation after the tape.
4. Ask some groups act out the conversation.
5. Look Tony’s family again. Understand the phrases “on the left” “on the right” “next to” and “in front of”.
Step 4 Speaking
1. Ask a student to show a photo of her family that she has prepared. And then I will ask her some questions:
“ Is this your father ” “Is this your sister ” “ Are these your grandparents ”…….
2. Work in pairs. Show each other the family photo. Ask and answer questions about the family.
3. Ask some pairs to act it out.
