Topic Unit2 The tiger lives in Asia. Teaching arrangemet One
Analysis of the students The students are in grade one in junior high school. After learning for nearly half a year, they are adapted to the English learning in junior high school. The material comes from Module 6 Unit 2. Students have learnt some words about animals and they have an understanding of the third person singular form of present simple tense. Based on this, this unit is to talk about the students’ favorite animals and the habitat and habits of animals. That’s an interesting topic. Considering the characteristics of this unit, the teacher will design some tasks to encourage the students to participate in the English learning. It is important to cultivate the student’s ability of reading and writing.
Teaching aims 一、Knowledge objective 1.Words:Africa, Asia, Europe , America, a little, only, catch, alone, usually, all over the world ,as well as, be good at, many kinds of .2.Sentences: The elephant lives in Africa and in Asia. It likes water. It eats plant, leaves and a little fruit, but it doesn’t eat meat.Grammer:the third person singular of the present simple二、Ability objective Reading: 1.To understand reading materials on animals and learn to find specific information in the reading. 2.To be able to recite the passage. 3. To improve the students’ ability of getting a general understanding of the reading material.Writing: to write an article about one’s favorite animal correctly by using the present simple tense.三、Learning Strategies1. To lead the students to get relevant information using textbooks and online resources.2. To learn to work in group and communicate with each other.3. To train the students to learn and solve the problems by themselves.四、Emotional objective1.To make the students have interest in English.2.To love and protect animals.3.To live in peace with animals.
Key points and difficult points 1. To help Ss grasp the new and useful words listed in the book.2. To master the usage of the third person singular form of the present simple.3. To talk about the habitat and habits of animals.

Teaching process Purpose of my designing:
Step 1 Have a revision. 1.Greetings. 2.Talk about animals with students. T: Hello! Boys and girls! In the last lesson,we have been to Being Zoo, and there we have seen many kinds of animals. Do you still remember S: Yes.T: OK,now ,let’s play a guessing game,what animal is it (show some pictures )S: Bear, elephant ,giraffe,lion,monkey,panda,tiger,zebra… 3.The first handwriting on the blackboard.T: Well done,let’s play a game. The King of Memory .I will ask two students to come to the blackboard and write down some words .The other students write them in your exercise books. Then check your answers each other.Step 2 Lead-inLet the students read the learning target together.Show a map of the world. Learn new words and phrases. After that,teacher asks:T: As we all know, animals are our friends. There are many kinds of animals on the earth.But do you know where the animals come from S: No.Show the map of the world, and get students to talk about the animals in the pictures. Help the Ss to ask:
A: Where does the tiger live B: The tiger lives in Asia.
A: Where does the zebra live B: The zebra lives in Africa. …Step 3 Work in pairs .According to the pictures, let students talk in pairs.Step 4 The second handwriting on the blackboard.Step 5 Listen and answer the three questions:1. To lead in the new words about animals by talking about what they have learnt in Unit One. To present the pictures and sound of animals by PPT, and let the students guess thewords quickly according to the pictures. To make the students prepare for the following activity naturally, and train the students’ speaking ability.1.Show a map of the world, and combine the knowledge of English and geography, to improve the students’ interest in English. To teach the students to pronounce correctly using the talking pen. 2. Associate the continents with the habitat of animals to present the important points naturally. It makes grammar easy to master and memorize through PPT.Ask some students to talk about the pictures. Do some oral exercises to master the key sentence structures well. Prepare for the following handwriting on the blackboard. To consolidate the key points. (teacher comment)Listen and answer the questions. The questions are easy to answer and this can increase the students’ interest.Let the students watch a short movie and find out animals’ favorite food, then the students are asked to fill the blanks. By this way, it can train their listening ability. This activity is to improve the output of the language, and it can also increase their interest in learning English.Ask some other students to write on the blackboard and the others write in their exercise books, and then check each other’s answers. This process reflects the characteristics of this unit (reading and writing). The writing can improve the students’ comprehensive ability of using language.After listening, watching and writing, the students are familiar with the passage. Now, they are asked to skim the passage and finish Activity 4, then check the answers. the students have a better understanding of the whole text. The students are encouraged to recite the text with some pictures and important structures. The purpose is to cultivate their ability of using language. Then they will have a match. It is to increase the interest of learning English and stress the key points of this unit.Ask the students to summarize what they have learnt in this class to let them consolidate the knowledge. After that, the teacher stresses the knowledge and the students are asked to read the writing on the blackboard after the teacher. Finally, play a video about killing animals to accomplish the emotional objective, and call on the students to love animals. (No buying, No killing!) Since there is only one world, and animals are our friends, we should protect them.
Teaching reflection Ask the students speak more.Let the students pay attention to their pronunciation and intoration. Encourage the students to do the activity individually,and then check with a partner.
