I cannot remember a point in my life when I desired anything other than becoming a teacher. At the beginning of my senior year in high school, I began applying to the University of Connecticut. But what I didn’t realize was how expensive my dream was. I came from a middle-class family, and it seemed as though we’d always struggled to make ends meet.
I wasn’t the smartest person in my class, not even close; but my heart was in the right place, and I was determined. I applied for every scholarship I could get my hands on. What did I have to lose And then my guidance counselor told me about the financial aid system. I applied, but I didn’t think I would qualify for that either.

Not only was financial aid going to help me out with my expenses, but also I won two of the scholarships I had applied for! I had actually made my dream come true.

Measuring about 13,170 miles long, the Great Wall of China is no doubt the longest man-made project on earth. It was once widely believed that it could be seen from space. Some media even reported with affected seriousness, “The biggest building the astronauts could see from space is the wall, which looks very much like a black worm.” Consequently, this statement has gone deep into people’s minds and become an honor that Chinese people have enjoyed for years.
Is the Great Wall truly visible from space Yang Liwei, China’s first astronaut who was lifted into outer space by the spacecraft Shenzhou V, gave a definite answer:“No”. Yang’s negative response might put out a fair number of people’s passion. But it powerfully corrected the misconception. The wall is indeed majestic, but you won’t see it from space!
In fact, Neil Alden Armstrong, the American astronaut who first set foot on the moon in 1969, was asked many times whether or not he had seen the Great Wall from the moon. Recently from a sound recording announced by NASA’s Johnson Space Center, Armstrong said that he had seen the continents, lakes and blue spots(斑点) touched with red. But he could not make out any man-made object on earth from the moon.
The Great Wall is narrow and irregular. In space, something irregular is hard to observe. Measuring about 10 metres wide on average, it easily merges(融入) into the surrounding environment. It is totally invisible at a height of 196,850 feet with the naked eye. To watch the wall on the moon is like seeking for a single hair from about 2,688 metres away. To say an astronaut can see it from space is obviously not true.
However, some people introduced an idea to make the Great Wall visible from space. If we install(安装) bright spotlights(聚光灯) on the wall, astronauts will see the lights at night. But this suggestion has not been carried out by scientific experiments.
12. Which is right about the statement “the Great Wall can be seen from space”
A. The news media cast doubt on it.
B. There was much evidence for it.
C. Astronauts played a trick on Chinese people.
D. The Chinese had belief in it for a long time.
13. What does the underlined word “majestic” in Paragraph 2 probably mean
A. Invisible. B. Bright.
C. Grand. D. Visible.
14. As Armstrong once said, what did he see from the moon
A. The Great Wall. B. Bright spotlights.
C. Places painted blue. D. Large area of land.
15. How does the author prove a point in Paragraph 4
A. By listing figures.
B. By giving examples.
C. By classifying facts.
D. By drawing conclusions.

To help you understand what 5G is, and what it means to you, we’ve put together a handy guide here.
What is 5G
___16___At its most basic level, 5G will be used to make calls, send texts, and to simply get online. But it’s going to be significantly faster than previous generations, and could open the door up to a range of exciting new uses.
___17___
5G will use new higher radio frequencies to send out data, which are less cluttered(挤了)and carry information much faster. While these higher bands are faster, they don’t carry information as far. That’s to say, smaller multiple input and output antennas (天线)will be used—promoting both signals and capacity(容量).___18___
Why is it better than 4G
5G is expected to be faster than 4G, with some firms claiming it could be as much as 100 times quicker. The fastest 4G networks can deliver peak download speeds of around 300 Mbit/s.____19____In real life, this could allow you to download a full HD film in less than 10 seconds!
___20___It means there will be very little—if any—delay when you carry out tasks on a device. While this will help improve things like gaming experiences, it could also pave the way for safer self-driving cars—in which even a short delay could be life-saving.
Finally, 5G will have a larger capacity, meaning networks will be able to deal with several apps at once. Generally, this should mean that devices have a faster, more stable connection.
A. How does 5G work
B. How will 5G affect you
C. 5G is also expected to have a lower latency.
D. 5G is short for “5th generation mobile network.”
E. In comparison, 5G could offer download speeds of over 1 Gb/s.
F. Therefore, the similarity between 5G and 4G technology is huge.
G. This means 5G will support up to 1,000 more devices per meter than 4G.

根据第三段中“LFW can now command a list of big names as well as promising new designers.”
根据第四段“Fashion Week moves to Milan on September 17th.”
根据第二段“NYFW is considered the most commercial and casual of the four. It is also the only event to allow some fashion school students to participate, bringing a fresh look to the runway.” 纽约时装周是最商业和休闲的,也是唯一允许时尚学校学生参与的活动;根据第三段“London fashion houses have a reputation for being very experimental and open to new ideas.” 米兰时装周以提供迷人但实用的选择而闻名;第五段“The word that best describes Paris Fashion Week is "elegant".” 故选A项。

D 13. C 14. D 15. A

根据第一段最后一句“Consequently, this statement has gone deep into people’s minds and become an honor that Chinese people have enjoyed for years.(因此,这句话深入人心,成为中国人多年来享有的荣誉。)”
由第一段中的“Measuring about 13,170 miles long, the Great Wall of China is no doubt the longest man-made project on earth.(长约13, 170英里,中国长城无疑是地球上最长的人造工程。)”可知,长城是雄伟的建筑物,结合划线句子后面的“but you won’t see it from space!(但你不会从太空看到它!)”
由第三段中的“Recently from a sound recording announced by NASA’s Johnson Space Center, Armstrong said that he had seen the continents, lakes and blue spots(斑点) touched with red. But he could not make out any man-made object on earth from the moon.(最近,从美国宇航局约翰逊航天中心宣布的录音中,阿姆斯特朗说他已经看到大陆,湖泊和红色的斑点。
根据第四段中的“In space, something irregular is hard to observe. Measuring about 10 metres wide on average, it easily merges(融入) into the surrounding environment. It is totally invisible at a height of 196,850 feet with the naked eye. To watch the wall on the moon is like seeking for a single hair from about 2,688 metres away.(在太空中,很难观察到不规则的东西。 故选A项。
D 17. A 18. G 19. E 20. C
由“What is 5G ”可知,5G是什么。
由“5G will use new higher radio frequencies to send out data, which are less cluttered(挤了)and carry information much faster”可知,5G将使用新的更高的无线电频率来发送数据,这些数据传送的更顺畅,传输的速度更快。 故选A项。
由“That’s to say, smaller multiple input and output antennas (天线)will be used—promoting both signals and capacity(容量)”可知,也就是说,更小的多输入和输出天线来将被应用----提升信号质量和容量。
由“the fastest 4G networks can deliver peak download speeds of around 300 Mbit/s”可知,最快的4G网络可以提供大约300Mbit/s的峰值下载速度。
由“It means there will be very little—if any—delay when you carry out tasks on a device”可知,这意味着当你在设备上执行任务时,即使有延迟,也会非常少。

Last Saturday, I took Anna to a restaurant for his birthday. One of my friend recommended the Villa Borghese restaurant to us. It is a Italian restaurant by the beach and serves typically Italian food. I said to Anna about it, but she prefer French food. So we chose to go to Chez Pierre, what is a new French restaurant. The restaurant was really relaxed. Although there was classical and French music, but it wasn’t very loud so it was easy to talk. The waiters very friendly and the service was good. The meal there was expensive, but I would definitely recommend go there for a special occasion.

故his改成her。
故a改成an。
故what改成which。
故but去掉。
故go改成going。

My Views on the Cooking Lesson
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
As we all know, the cooking lesson will be started this autumn in primary and secondary schools nationwide, which has set off heated discussions in society. From my point of view, it’s a big move and will bring freshness to school.
Actually, most students have been focusing only on their studies, unable to do basic housework, and even never feeling grateful for what their parents have done for them.
Hopefully, through the cooking lesson, not only can the students develop their life skills, but also they can have a better understanding of the meaning of hard work. More importantly, the new lesson will, to some extent, help them build a strong character to tackle challenges and difficulties in life.

2】Hopefully, through the cooking lesson, not only can the students develop their life skills, but also they can have a better understanding of the meaning of hard work.(运用了“not only…but also”并列句结构,且将“not only”置于句首,使用部分倒装结构)
