(2021· 内蒙古 · 二连浩特第一中学高一期末) In my long years of teaching, I often ask my students to read the texts until they can recite (背诵) them, and I tell them that recitation is an important part of their homework. However, some of my students are tired of doing so, thinking that it is both hard and useless. They argue that it takes a long time to recite a text from memory and text itself never appears in a test paper.
In my opinion, it naturally takes time to recite a text, but it is worth doing so. When you are able to recite a text, you are sure to be familiar with the words and expressions. When you need them in reading or writing or doing exercises, they will come to your mind quickly, and so you will give quick response to all kinds of language situation. How can we say that it is useless
Besides, many students complain that they soon forget what they were once able to recite. This is true, but you don’t need to worry. While you are reading and forgetting the texts, your language level is being raised. Sure you don’t remember your Chinese texts that you once read in the primary school, but now you are able to read novels and newspaper. So, recitation of the texts will help you improve your language ability.
4 .The writer often asks his students to recite the texts, _______.
A .but they don’t like to do so B .but they wrote a letter to report the thing
C .and they are willing to do so D .but they do exercises instead of reciting

A .The teacher thinks the students are too naughty to learn English well.
B .The students think they spend a lot of time in reciting the texts and get nothing.
C .The students say that they often forget the words.
D .The students take no interest in English.
7 .When the students are against his suggestion, the writer_______.

(2022·甘肃 ·金昌市第一中学高一期末) When you are reading something in English and you see a word or words you do not know what do you do Do you pause and look up the meanings Or do you put down the reading and find something different to read
Neither solution is satisfying. Unless you are reading at a level that is clearly too high for you, avoiding reading may leave you feeling defeated. And pausing to look up every word can slow down your reading. Using context clues works. A context clue is a piece of information that appears near an unknown word or phrase and makes its meaning clearer. Context clues are right there in the text. But sometimes we don’t see them. There are some kinds of context clues that can help you become a better reader.
The first kind is synonyms. As you come across unknown words while reading, look for synonyms. A synonym is a word or phrase that has a similar meaning to the unknown word. Antonyms are words that mean the opposite of a word. One way to identify an antonym is to look for contrast words, such as “but”, “however”, “though”, “although”, “unlike”, “whereas” and “despite” . These words signal that some opposite idea or meaning is coming. Another kind of clue is appositives. An appositive is a noun or noun phrase that comes after another noun, where the second gives the meaning of the first. Examples can also help explain the meaning of a word or idea. In English, the most common ways we introduce examples are with the phrase “for example”, “for instance”, “such as” and “like”
And now for some closing thoughts. Leaning to use context clues can take time. Don’t pressure yourself to
be great at the skill too quickly. Also, it is often not necessary to know the meaning of every word to understand what you are reading. So next time you come across a word you don’t know, ask yourself whether you can understand the sentence without it.
8 .When you meet with new words in English reading, what should you do
A .Use context clues. B .Ask teachers for help.
C .Look them up in the dictionary. D .Stop to read another new book.
9 .How many clues are mentioned in paragraph 3
A .Two. B .Three. C .Four. D .Five.
10 .What is the purpose of this passage
A .To inspire us to learn English.
B .To tell us English is easy to learn.
C .To persuade us to buy an English dictionary.
D .To introduce a way of English learning.
11 .Which of the following shows the development of ideas in the passage

Yoghurt
It was a rough week. The price of oil skyrocketed as the temperature dropped sharply in Maine. I had missed three days of wok so my paycheck was going to be lower than normal. I was stresses, to say the least. I shopped strategically, looking for every possible way to cut pennies so I could buy groceries and keep the house warm.
My eight-year-old son didn’t understand when I told him we were struggling that week. He wanted a special kind of yoghurt, but I didn't have the extra three dollars to buy it for him. It was the kind of yoghurt with a cartoon
kid riding a skateboard on the front of the box, and a mere two spoonfuls in each cup. It was the kind of product
that wastes a parent’s money and makes me hate advertising.
I felt guilty as a parent when those big eyes looked at me with confusion, as if to say, “It’s just yoghurt. What’s the big deal ” So I found a way. I put something back as single mothers often do. He got his yoghurt.
On the way driving back from the grocery store, I noticed a homeless man holding a sign by the side of the road. My heart hurt, and I tried not to look at him. I watched people stay away from him on the street and walk by without even meeting his eyes. My son didn’t seem to care much, either. I looked at the man closely then— bare hands grasping a piece of cardboard, snot(鼻涕) frozen to his face, a worn-out jacket. And there I was struggling because I had to buy oil and groceries, But I decided to help. I pulled over to the man and handed him a five- dollar bill.

用中学”。
36.考查代词。句意:首先,当我们听到这种语言时,我们必须理解它。根据上文“foreign language”以及 句意可知,可知此处使用代词 it,指代上文提到的事物,这里为 foreign language。故填 it 。 37.考查副词。句意:第三,我们必须具备阅读语言的能力,第四,我们必须能写它。由上文 Firstly 以 及 Secondly 和下文 fourthly 可知,此处为副词 thirdly“第三”,首字母大写。故填 Thirdly 。 38 .考查介词。句意:在语言学习中,要想取得成功绝非易事。 succeed in sth.“在……方面有成就,有作 为”,为固定短语。故填 in 。 39 .考查冠词。句意:好的记忆力是很有帮助的,但仅仅记住语法书上的规则是不够的。 memory“记忆” 为可数名词,以辅音音素开头,此处为泛指“一种好的记忆”概念,不定冠词a+单数名词可表泛指,首字
母大写。故填 A。
40 .考查非谓语动词。句意:好的记忆力是很有帮助的,但仅仅记住语法书上的规则是不够的。 enough 后接动词不定式构成“be enough to do sth.”表示“足以做某事”,为固定短语。故填 to memorize。
