41 My First Christmas
一、请根据两个提示句进行故事续写,150词左右。
During the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons each year, the baby stores always carry little infant (婴儿) shirts decorated with “Baby’s First Thanksgiving” or “Baby’s First Christmas.” For me, though, that first Christmas didn’t take place until I was seven years old!
I was only five when my birth mother died from alcoholism. I had lots of memories from before she died but nothing very pleasant. No birthdays, Christmases, or other holidays. After her death, I was shifted from family member to family member before my birth father took me to Tehachapi, California, to live with him and my brother who was seven years older than me.
Quickly, I became familiar with the town, the people, and the businesses. I knew no strangers. I learned all kinds of bad habits, but I didn’t realize at that time how bad they were.
Not only was I becoming more of a wild child, but something bad happened to me one night that made my birth father decide he couldn’t care for me. Then he talked about me to a guy he met — a trucker from Oklahoma. The trucker and his wife had wanted children but never got one. The more the trucker heard about my story, the more interested he became. He asked my birth father what he would think about a couple from Oklahoma City adopting his daughter. My birth father said if it was a good home, he would consider it.
The trucker called his wife and asked her what she thought about adopting a half-orphaned seven-year-old girl. Her reply “Well, we won’t have to change diapers (尿布)!”
That was the beginning of the rest of my life. I came to Oklahoma City in August 1954, settled into school, and made lots of new friends. Adoption papers were signed, and I didn’t even hesitate for a moment when the judge asked if this was all okay with me.
My new mom had a lot of work to do with me regarding boundaries. I had to learn not to speak to strangers, leave the yard without permission, or jump on the furniture, just to name a few.
The months went by, and soon it was December. __________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________ From then on, Christmas became something particularly special for me. __________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________

My First Christmas
During the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons each year, the baby stores always carry little infant shirts emblazoned with “Baby’s First Thanksgiving” or “Baby’s First Christmas.” For me, though, that first Christmas didn’t take place until I was seven years old!
I had been half-orphaned when I was only five after my birth mother died from complications of alcoholism.
The trucker and his wife had wanted children but never conceived. The more the trucker heard about my story, the more interested he became. He asked my birth father what he would think about a couple from Oklahoma City adopting his daughter. My birth father said if it was a good home, he would consider it.
The trucker called his wife in Oklahoma City and asked her what she thought about adopting a half-orphaned seven-year-old girl. Her reply “Well, we won’t have to change diapers!”
That was the beginning of the rest of my life. I came to Oklahoma City in August 1954, settled into school, and made lots of new friends. Adoption papers were signed, and I didn’t even hesitate for a moment when the judge asked if this was all okay with me.
My new mom had a lot of work to do with me regardingboundaries. I had to learn not to speak to strangers, leave the yard without permission, or jump on the furniture, just to name a few.
The months went by, and soon it was December. It was no big deal for me since my life had never changed during the holiday season. But I was in for a big surprise! This was my mom and dad’s first Christmas as parents.
Daddy had to wake me up that first Christmas morning, as Santa had never been able to find me before so I didn’t know to be excited about Christmas morning. Under the tree, I discovered the greatest assortment of presents. There was a doll, doll bed, doll stroller, toy operator switchboard, and so many other fun things to keep me entertained for hours. I was so excited that I didn’t even want to eat — a very unusual thing for me.
Later Christmases would bring many other fun things a little girl wouldn’t have thought to ask for, like a BB gun! I think my dad was the parent who chose most of the gifts for me. One year, he wanted to get me a train set, and another year, a pool table. I think Mom must have felt like she was taking care of two children when it was Christmas.
It wasn’t the idea of Christmas, Santa Claus, or presents that made my life with my parents so special. It was the love I had never known before. It was the feeling of being safe, wanted, and secure just where I was, with them. Even though they have passed on now, those memories continue to make every Christmas particularly special for me, a little girl who had no idea what she was missing.
