beside用作介词,意为“在……旁边”。介词与其他词类或成分结合后方能在句子中充当语法成分,构成介词短语。
e.g.My home is beside the park.
我家在公园旁边。

【辨析】 on和above
on表示在某一物体上,强调两物相接触;above表示位置高于某人或某物。但不一定是正上方,反义词是below。
e.g.My apples are on the table.
