have a birthday party用作动词短语,意为“开生日晚会”。
e.g.We are having a birthday party for Mary.
我们正在为玛丽开生日晚会。

make用作动词,意为“制作”。make a birthday card用作动词短语,意为“制作生日卡片”。
e.g.Bob and Mike are making a birthday card for their mom.

【拓展】 make用作及物动词,还有其他的意思:
(1)总计;等于。
Two and two makes four.二加二等于四。
(2)make意为“使;让”,在主动语态中其后要跟省略to的不定式作宾语补足语,而在被 动语态中,to不能省去。
e.g.Don’t make the baby cry.
不要让那个孩子哭了。
e.g.She was made to wait for over an hour.
她被迫等了一个多钟头。

(3)make用作及物动词,后接复合宾语,表示“使……”时,通常由形容词、名词等充当宾语补足语。
e.g.Sweet music makes me happy.

(4)make a shopping list 写一个购物单;make friends with 与……交朋友;make a face 做鬼脸;make money 赚钱;make one’s bed 铺床;收拾床铺。

【拓展】 (1)use…to do…意为“用……做……”。
e.g.We use crayons to draw pictures.
我们用蜡笔画画。
e.g.We use pens to write.我们用钢笔写。
(2)use还可以用作名词,作名词时它既可以作可数名词,也可以作不可数名词,意为“用处,用法”等。
e.g.A fridge has many uses.冰箱有许多用处。
