Teaching procedures Step1 import Step 1 Greet Greet the class and tell the students the goal of the unit. Step 2 Prepare T: Today we are going to talk about how to study. How do you learn English Collect students' answers and prepare for the language project during this time. Step2 Cooperative research 1. Complete 1a ① Study in groups. Add more ways to learn English. ② Read these phrases in 1a. Show them how to use the phrase "by doing". ③ Help students tell their learning methods. 2. Complete 1b ① Read the instructions. ② Play the recording for the first time. Students just listen. ③ Play the recording again. Have them match the method to the name. ④ Check the answers with the class. 3. Complete 1c Interview their partners in groups to find out how they study for the test. ② One person from each group should report to the whole class. 4. Complete 2a-2b ① Use PPT or pictures for students to learn new words. Read the question in 2a. ② Ask the students to guess the answer in 2b. ③ Play the recording for the first time. Students listen and check the questions. ④ Play the recording again. Listen and match the answers to the questions in 1a. ⑤ Check the answers with the class. 5. Complete 2c ① Display a picture of the conversation. ② Students work in pairs. 3. Ask three pairs of students to tell their conversation to the class. Show powerpoint to help. 6. Complete 2d ① Talk about the pictures and browse the conversation. ② Ask the students to read the dialogue in section 2 aloud. Learn new words and phrases. ③ Ask the following questions: How did Jack feel at first What made him feel so (nervous) What's Jack's problem with reading What does Annie suggest What's wrong with Jack's words What's Annie's advice Check the answers with individual students to see how well they understand them. ⑤ Play the recording and ask the students to follow the teacher. Then have the two act out the conversation. Step3 Homework 1. Do a survey: How do you study for an English test 2. Imagine that you are Jack and Annie. Have a conversation about your English study.
