A Georgia mom is winning praise for the way she’s teaching her children, aged 13,10 and 6, about money.
Shaketha MeGregor, a single mother in Dublin, Georgia, knew she needed a solution after frequent requests from her three kids for things like new toys and money to do things with their friends.
She came up with the unique idea to host a “job fair(就业展览会)”for her three children, Jahkeem, in seventh grade, Takeia, in fifth grade, and Serinity, in first grade. The three positions at the job fair were the kitchen manager, lead housekeeper and laundry supervisor(洗衣房主管).Children had to earn their pocket money by doing a job.
Jahkeem, Takeia and Serinity each picked the job they wanted to apply for, filled out the application and had interviews with their employer-their mom.
“My oldest and my youngest both applied for the lead housekeeper,” McGregor said.” As to my 6-year-old daughter Serinity, I was more impressed with her application and her interview than my 13-year-old son Jahkeem.”
“I want them to be familiar with the process when they are older,” she said. “Whether they’re applying to a school or for a new job, they can look back and say, “I did this with Mom years ago.” As a parent you want to protect your children as much as possible, but you know that eventually they’ll have to experience it on their own and a child’s greatest lesson in life is going through the process.
MeGregor’s post on Facebook where she shared her job fair idea now has more than 200,000 likes. She said she hoped it inspired other parents to think outside of the box and let their kids’ voices be heard.” What I’m realizing is that kids just want to be part of something. The first-hand experience is the best way to educate children,” McGregor said.

Every year from May to July, tens of thousands of Tibetan antelopes from regions in Qinghai, Tibet autonomous region, and Xinjiang autonomous region make their way to Hoh Xil nature reserve in Qinghai to give birth. The mothers and newborn Tibetan antelopes make the return trip around August according to CCTV News.
This journey is rather tough. More than 90 percent of the female animals give birth every year, but only about 30 percent of the newborns survive. Many of the baby antelopes die on the return journey, unable to resist the predators (捕食者) and disease, reported China Daily. The government has adopted some high-tech methods to assist in the safe return of newborn antelopes and protect the species.
In 2013, with the help of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, researchers discovered and confirmed the largest Tibetan antelope “birth room” on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and they mapped the migration (迁徙) routes of Tibetan antelopes. Since late 2018, a solar-powered drone (无人机) has been used to monitor the migration herds (群体) , Xi’an Daily reported.
“The solar-powered drone has a strong endurance and carries high-resolution cameras, which gives us a new understanding of many specific routes during the migration of Tibetan antelopes,” Wu Xiaomin, an expert from the Shaanxi Institute of Zoology, told Xi’an Daily. “For example, the nomads (牧民) put fences on the grassland to protect the grass, but sometimes these hinder the normal activity of the Tibetan antelopes.”
To clear the way for the Tibetan antelopes, the government of the Tibet has taken action in recent years to give more protected space to wildlife. They relocate nomads from places at altitudes above 4,800 meters to other places in the region, Wu told China Daily.
8、What do we know about Tibetan antelopes
A. They travel to Hoh Xil to find mates.
B. Only 30 percent of them give birth every year.
C. Their yearly trip to Hoh Xil takes about one month.
D. The newborns are threatened by disease and predators.
9、What is the solar-powered drone mainly used for
A. Locating the Tibetan antelope “birth room”.
B. Monitoring the migrating Tibetan antelopes.
C. Recording Tibetan antelopes daily activities.
D. Mapping the migration routes of Tibetan antelopes.

A. Pay attention to (something). B. Take control of (something).
C. Cause trouble for (something). D. Play an important role in (something).
11、How does the government protect Tibetan antelopes
A. By giving them more safe space.

C. By creating new nature reserves for them.
D. By relocating them to a protected place.
SWG3 is a huge building which hosts major club nights in Glasgow, Srotland. Recently, it has applied a system called Bodyheat. The system creates renewable energy from the body heat on the building’s dance floor.
David Townsend, who designed the system, said, “You and I just stand here right now and we’re generating about 100 to 150 watts of energy. When you start dancing, let’s say at a medium pace, you might be generating like 250 watts. And then if we’ve got a big DJ, absolutely playing basslines (低音旋律) and making everyone jump up and down, each of us could be generating 500 to 600 watts of heat energy.”
Dancers’ heat is then captured from the dancefloor and transferred to a series of 200-meter-deep boreholes which can store heat like a battery. The heat energy then travels back to the heat pumps, and is upgraded to a suitable temperature and sent back into SWG3. This will enable people to completely disconnect the venue’s gas, boiler, reducing its carbon emission by about 70 tons of CO2 a year.
The Body heat system costs over £600,000 to setup. “If we were to apply the typical air conditioning that is usually used, our costs would probably be about 10 % of that--so £60,000,” SWG3 managing director Andrew Fleming-Brown said. “But in the long run, the savings on energy bills will get the spending back in about five years, depending on costs.
“If we can make it work here in this environment, there’s no reason why we can’t take it to other venues, not just here in Scotland and the UK, but across Europe and further areas,” Fleming-Brown said, adding that introducing the system was a leap of faith and that the venue once promised to achieve “net-zero” carbon emissions by 2025.
12、How much energy can two people dancing at a medium pace make
A. About 200 to 300 watts. B. About 250 watts.
C. About 500 watts. D. About 1,000 to 1,200 watts.
13、What is the function of the boreholes
A. To store dancers’ heat.
B. To capture dancers’ heat.
C. To send heat energy back to SWG3.
D. To upgrade heat energy to a suitable temperature.
14、What does Fleming-Brown think of their use of Bodyheat
A. It is not safe. B. It is farsighted.
C. It is double-edged. D. It is not cost-effective.
15、What may Fleming-Brown do in the future
A. Build more venues with Bodyheat.
B. Support Bodyheat with grants (拨款).
C. Get involved in the research on Bodyheat.
D. Recommend Bodyheat to other venues.

For the initial ten years of his life, Victor was the prince of the household. As he was an only child, his parents petted him and showered all their love and attention on him. Whatever toys his parents bought, they were always meant for him. Whatever food was in the refrigerator, there was no one to compete with him to polish it off first. Victor could leave his toys or books around the house with complete ease of mind, knowing that there was no one who would get their hands on his belongings and cause any damage.
However, all that was to change overnight when Victor’s parents brought back his new baby sister, Lina, from the hospital. With her rosy cheeks, wide open eyes and angelic smile, Lina caught the hearts of her parents, grandparents and relatives. Everyone focused their attention on the cute bunch of joy. Whenever she cried, her mother or father would rush to her bed. She simply cried because she wanted to be carried. There was little time left for Victor.
Now that Victor’s mother had his baby sister to take care of, she expected Victor himself to do most of the chores he can do. Victor was asked to clean his own room, iron his own school uniform and clean his own shoes. Before Lina’s arrival, he had never lifted a finger to help out with these tasks. The whole family also went out less because it was unhealthy to expose Lina to the bacteria(细菌) being in the outside world too often.
Victor felt neglected by his parents. He felt that they loved Lina more than him. As a result, he tried to attract his parents’ attention by becoming resistant. One evening, Victor’s parents were called up by his teacher because Victor had got into a fight at school. His teacher had noticed Victor’s behaviour and work attitude changing downwards in the past two months. Before that, he had been a model student.

32、答案:①which②a③amounts④acceptably⑤cooked⑥has won⑦as⑧its⑨to remove⑩including
The “sour and spicy shredded potato”,指物,从句缺少主语,应用关系代词which。故填which。
故填has won。
故填as。
故填its。
故填to remove。
故填including。

Besides, I strongly suggest that you bring some gifts, the purpose of which is to show your friendliness. To be precise, Chinese knots are a good choice, as these indicate security and happiness. Upon hearing the teacher’s feedback, Victor’s parents got lost in thought. Since their second child Linda was born, they have devoted all their attention to her. They realized they neglected victor’s feelings to some degree. Victor might have wrongly believed they did not love him any more. Therefore, they decided to have a heart-to-heart talk with him. “Although Lina demands more of our time, that doesn’t mean we loved you any less.” explained the parents. They promised Victor they would always be there for him. So they made a decision that they should treat the two children equally. Gradually, something changed in the family.
Victor realized that his parents still cared for him. He accepted the fact that he was old enough to do many things by himself and should start learning to be independent. Having finished his homework, he learned to clean their rooms and do all the chores that he could. He helped his mother look after Lina whenever she was busy. He came to realize that he should take responsibility for the family because he grew up. Victor, Lina and their parents lived together as a happy, loving family.
