Natural disasters can affect (影响) children greatly and it takes a lot of effort and patience to help children mentally overcome the event they suffered. According to scientists, after a disaster, children can suffer mentally for months or even years. This may affect the family environment.
After a natural disaster, parents may not realize the nervousness their children feel, and may not pay much attention to complaints about physical discomforts (不适) such as headaches or stomach aches caused by stress. Children may have frightening dreams more often, especially about the disaster. During the day they may be afraid of talking about the disaster.
