book 1 unit 4 presenting ideas 测试题
一、阅读理解
A
I know in these days of social media teens are measured by the size of their social circles. Their followers, likes, and friends they can contact seem to be the measure of their self-worth. They feel they need a huge group of friends, and that they have to be liked by everyone.
When I was young, I thought when it came to friends, the more, the better. I was always on the hunt for new friends, which wasn’t hard for me because I was very lively and outgoing. Now, I have a few close friends who I’ve had for thirty years. I’m so grateful for that. These are the friends who have stuck by me through life’s ups and downs even if we are living in different places or are in different phases of life.
Of course, there have been other friendships that have come and gone depending on the stage of my life. The older I get, the more I’m okay with letting certain friendships and people fade out of my life.
I don’t want my kids to chase friendships just to get their number up or think that the more friends they have, the better off they’ll be. As you get older you don’t need a hundred friends, but just a few good ones. The truth is that there is only so much energy we have for nurturing(培养)love in a few true friendships. You just can’t give your closest friends enough of yourself when you are always looking for more people to join your group.
That doesn’t mean I’m teaching my kids not to let anyone else in. I just want them to know that after they graduate from high school and as they get older, having lots of friends matters less and less. What really makes a difference in someone’s life is having one or two true friends that they can trust and rely on.

Trying to find the perfect present is about as easy as trying to read someone’s mind. Few people will actually tell you what they want for a special occasion and most of the time your loved ones will insist that they don’t need or want anything! So, what to do Here are some tips that could help.
Start Early
Starting your shopping early can have many advantages. For instance, it gives you enough time to come up with ideas for what you should buy your friends or family members. Moreover, the closer it gets to holidays, the higher the prices go up. So, save your money by being an early bird.
Make a List
Here, you can write down everything your friends or family members love. This can include food, hobbies, experiences, and more. Then try to determine how to use this information to find a gift that perfectly suits them. If you are lucky, you should be able to find good ideas in one of these lists.
Think outside the Box
Often, the reason why you get stuck for gift ideas is that you only focus on the same kind of presents. If you are still coming up empty, it is time to get creative. You can find something your friends or family members can use every day. When in doubt, you can simply put smaller presents together to make up a larger, more meaningful gift.
Gift an Experience
In case you are still feeling a little stuck, go ahead and find something that the two of you can do together. It may be a class, or anything else where you can enjoy each other’s company. In short, you will be able to give them the gift of friendship.
4.Start your shopping early can help you _______.
A.buy gifts in lower prices
B.change ideas very often
C.read your friend’s mind easily
D.make a list of preferred gifts
5.To enjoy each other’s company, you can _______.
A.talk to your family members
B.find something that you can do together
C.write down everything your friends love
D.put smaller gifts together to make up a larger one
6.What is the purpose of the passage
A.To suggest ways on how to make friends.
B.To give advice on reading minds.
C.To share a travel story.
D.To offer tips on buying presents.
二、七选五
“The Friendship Files” is my series of interviews about friendships. When this project began, I wrote, “People are at their most generous, their funniest, and their most fascinating when talking with and about their friends.” The interviews only strengthened that belief. 7
Build-up
8 Sometimes that increases slowly, as it did for two neighbors who have lived across the hall for 20 years. They’ve checked in on each other when they were sick, and split the bill of a magazine. Those moments finally added up to a friendship during the pandemic (流行病), when they opened doors to talk across the hallway and felt less alone.
Attention
Making friends can be hard, but there are more opportunities than we think. A new friend could be waiting in the comments section of an article you’re reading, or on the other side of a Google Doc. 9 As much as we may feel like our social networks are settled, it’s never too late to meet someone who will be important to you for the rest of your life.
Intention
Attention only gets you so far without action. When opportunity arises, put yourself out there. That requires courage to let things be awkward, which is the hardest part of friendship. 10 But this does not mean making friends is labor. It takes effort, but it should be a joy.
Tradition
One thing that seems to make keeping up with friends easier is tradition, like organizing a book club, a monthly hike, or a regular Dungeons & Dragons campaign. 11 The Dungeons & Dragons group has a shorthand (速记法) dating back 30 years ago.
A.The simplest and most obvious one is time spent together.
B.These unexpected relationships need our special attention.
C.We need to be brave to build friendship in places we never expect it.
D.Besides keeping groups close, they can give its members a shared culture.
E.It takes energy and thought, and you could feel stressed mentally and physically.
F.Healthy friendships help improve our well-being in a lot of ways, which are listed as follows.
G.Though every bond is different, there are several key forces that help form and maintain friendships.

Long silence...
Several weeks before the audition, they practiced and practiced. With time speeding by, Molly’s confidence grew and she felt happy with her acting.
The morning of the audition arrived at last. Unbelievable! So many students crowded into the school hall to appreciate and witness the moment. Nervous though Molly was, she took a deep breath and recalled what she had practiced. During the audition, she tried her best to present her best self, and she was sure that she could make it.
After an anxiety-filled hour, the result of the audition came out. Molly didn’t even dare to check the result in person. Standing outside the crowd, she heard someone shouting, “Maye is the princess!” What was worse, Molly was shocked to learn that she was given the role of “witch”!

39.考查连词。句意:与朋友在一起的青少年的悲伤和担心程度较低。此处sadness和worry表示并列,用and。故填and。
40.考查介词。句意:这就是友谊的优点,所以年轻人应该被鼓励交更多的朋友。这里用介词of表示“……的”的意思,good points of friendships意为“友谊的好处”。故填of。
41.考查语态。句意:见第9题详解。主语young people和谓语动词encourage之间是被动关系,因此用被动态,空格前面是情态动词should,be动词用原形。故填be encouraged。
42.One possible version:
Dear fellow students,
I’m honored to have the chance to deliver a speech with respect to friendship.
Friendship is like sunshine, which keeps us warm and helps us grow. It is important for us to make good friends so that we can always study and have fun together. I like to choose people that are kind, honest and helpful as my friends with whom I will share my thoughts and concerns whenever I get into trouble. We should lend a helping hand when our friends are in need, and only in this way can we maintain friendships.
That’s all. Thank you for your listening!

43.Molly rushed home and burst out crying when her mother came. After her mom knew about everything, she smiled, “Dear, why not try your best to make witch impressed Maybe you are the best.” Molly jerked up her head as if awake from a dream. She kissed her mother in gratitude and got ready immediately. She carefully analyzed the witch’s personality traits, body language, consulted professionals, and looked up information about the relevant characters. As she learned more, her confidence grew gradually.
A few days later, the big day for the play arrived. The performance was a great success. Molly’s performance as the witch was as impressive as Maye’s as the princess, and the applause from the audience continued, which made Molly cry with joy. And her friend Maye also hugged her deeply and whispered, “If I had played a witch, I might not be as good as you.” Molly also understands a truth: no matter what role you play, as long as it is taken seriously, it will make people impressed.
