“Basil! Basil!” shouted the little old lady standing in the middle of the road.
“Are you all right, Mrs Jackson ” asked Dan, looking at her. Mrs Jackson lived in a small house at the end of Dan’s street. But now she was standing in the middle of the road with a strange look on her face. First she looked at one way up the street. Then she looked at the other way. She didn’t hear Dan or see him.
“Mrs Jackson,” said Dan again more loudly. “Are you OK ”
This time Mrs Jackson heard him. She looked at him over the top of her small round glasses. “Oh, Dan Parks,” she said. “It’s you. No, I’m not OK. I can’t find Basil. He went into the garden this morning and now I don’t know where he is.”
“Basil!”she shouted again.
Basil was Mrs Jackson’s dog. He was a dachshund—a long brown dog like a sausage with little short legs. Dan thought that Basil was funny-looking but quite sweet.
Of course, Dan preferred Dylan, his dog. And right now Dylan was sitting by Dan’s feet. He was looking at Mrs Jackson, his head on one side. He knew that something was wrong.
“It’s not like Basil to run away,” said Mrs Jackson, pushing her fingers through her hair. “He’s such a good dog usually. I don’t know what to do.”
“I’m sure we can find him,” said Dan.

Teeth are important to everyone. China’s Teeth Care Day is on September 20. Do you know the life cycle of teeth in your mouth Children under 6 years old have 20 baby teeth. From 6 to 13, people lose their baby teeth one by one. Now permanent teeth begin to grow. Between the ages of 16 and 25, some people grow wisdom teeth. Of course, wisdom teeth don’t make you any smarter. They are a symbol of being grown-ups.
Do you know any ways of keeping our teeth strong and healthy Let’s look at the following tips.
What we can do:
Brush our teeth at least twice a day: in the morning and before bedtime.
Brush for at least two or three minutes every time.
Brush up and down on every tooth.
Use dental floss for your teeth to make them cleaner if necessary.
Get a new toothbrush every three months.
What we can’t do:
Don’t eat too much food like candies, and don’t drink too much soda.
Don’t eat very hard food. That can hurt your teeth.
Don’t eat snacks before bedtime.
Healthy teeth help us eat food to let us grow. They help us speak clearly. And yes, they help us look good.
根据短文内容, 完成下面的表格。(每空一词)

Now and then we all get ill. Then we usually go to see a doctor. Doctors know a lot about what makes us ill. They may give us something to take. The medicine often makes us well again. But sometimes the doctor’s medicine doesn’t work. A sick person does not get well. The pain does not go away. This happened to one man. He was in hospital, but he was not getting well. Then he found a new “doctor” inside himself. This new “doctor” was his own sense of humour. He saw funny films. He read funny books. And something wonderful happened. Laughing took away his pain. Then he was able to sleep and rest. His own happiness helped him to feel well again. He said laughing was his best “medicine”. His doctor thought so.
Another man was also ill, and he had a terrible pain in his back. The doctors could not stop it from hurting. So the man began to “picture” his pain. In his head, he “drew” a picture of a dog. He imagined it as a real dog. And he made friends with the dog. And his pain went away!
These stories may surprise you. But more and more people are getting well in this way. So visit the “doctor” inside your own head and you can stay happy and well.
根据短文内容, 回答下列问题。每题答案不超过5个词。
1. If we get ill, what will we usually do
2. How many sick men are mentioned in this passage
3. Who was the first sick man’s new “doctor”
