今天的纽约唐人街，已扩展为45条街道，面积超过4平方公里。它已完全吞并了周边的犹太区和波多黎各区、意大利区。到2007年，纽约的华人已达80万之多，已经形成4座中国城和10个华人社区。
纽约唐人街的变迁就是一纽约中国城，也称纽约唐人街，纽约华埠等。中国城位于纽约市曼哈顿区，西起百老汇大街，东到Essex大街，北起Grand大街和Hester大街，南至Worth大街和Henry大街。整个中国城含40多条街道，面积超过4平方公里，人口约10万。纽约中国城已经成西半球海外华人的最大居住地和商业区。
