参考范文:
Care for Ourselves, Care for Our Eyes
As we all know, eyes are the windows of the mind. Without eyes, we couldn’t see this colorful and fantastic world. When walking with our eyes closed, we will feel uneasy or even frightened. So eyes are of great significance in our daily life.
Here are some approaches to using our eyes correctly. To begin with, pay attention to eye health. Don’t rub our eyes with dirty hands. Besides, a regular eye examination should be performed every year. Last but not least, avoid playing computer games or using digital devices for too long, which is harmful to our eyes.
In conclusion, we need to take care of our eyes carefully.
第二节
【答案】My dad handed us the final envelope, and the final poem told us to knock on the door. I could hardly contain my excitement as we stood in front of the unfamiliar house, wondering what awaited us inside. Brandon knocked on the door, and we waited in anticipation for someone to answer. After what seemed like ages, the door slowly opened. A stranger, later known as the keeper, revealed a small cute ten - week - old cat staring up at us with big blue eyes. We both held the breath in surprise and looked up at our dad, who was smiling playfully.
Dad was standing behind us by then, and "Merry Christmas," he said," The cat's yours." We couldn't believe it. We had been begging our parents for a pet for years, but they had always said no. Now, we had our very own cat, thanks to the Treasure Hunt. We lifted the cat up and hugged him close, feeling grateful and overjoyed. That Treasure Hunt was the best one yet, and it had given us the greatest gift of all. That was the day that cat became part of our family. It was a gift far beyond anything I could have imagined.

W: The Andes Mountains are on one side of the river, and the Cabben Sea is on the other side. Cool mountain winds move into the valley and hit warm sea air, creating the perfect conditions for lightning.
M: Are the people there afraid of getting hit
W: Most people stay inside at night, but they don’t really worry about it. The chances of being struck by lightning are pretty slim. In the US, about one in every 12, 000 people get hit in their lifetime.
M: Yeah, but we’re talking about an area that gets struck by lightning about 50% of the time.
W: True. This article says that near the Catatumbo River, one in three people get struck every year.
M: Wow. That’s really scary! I would never go outside if I lived there.
17-20【原文】Hello, everyone. My name is Alicia, and I live in the state of Guanajuato in central Mexico. Today, I’d like to tell something about my hometown and people here. Here in Guanajuato, music and dancing are a big part of life. There are a lot of festivals here, and many kinds of music. Many young people like rock or pop music but my favorite is traditional Mexican music, which is the kind of music my grandparents and great grandparents listened to. I don’t know why but I’m just crazy about it. I’m a folk dancer, and I love to perform at special events, which gives me chances to enjoy myself. To be a folk dancer, you have to love the culture and the music here. That’s the most important thing, but we also need to work hard and practice a lot. We dance in groups, and every person has to know the steps. And we can’t buy traditional folk dance dresses at the store, so we have to make our own. We wear traditional dresses that only come from this part of Mexico.永春县2022-2023学年高一下学期期末考试

In a close-up (特写), one man is pulling the other with all his strength through the window of an SUV, a type of vehicle, which is stuck dangerously on a cliff (悬崖) 30 feet above a busy roadway.
Jason Warnock, then 29, is the man performing the life-saving action. He was driving in Lewiston, Idaho, in April 2015 when he came upon a fallen tree in the middle of the road. “I was like, ‘What happened’ ” he told a news website. Warnock stretched out his neck to stare up the side of a cliff. At the very top, where the tree should have been, was an SUV swinging on the edge, held back from falling to the road by a delicate, heavily damaged chain-link fence. Looking inside the car, Warnock could see a panicked Matthew Sitko, 23, beating on the passenger-side window.
That’s when Warnock sprang into action. He crossed a nearby footbridge, and climbed up the cliff to get to the vehicle. When Warnock got to the car, he tried breaking the window with a tool he had on him, only to realize that his cracking was shaking the car and might cause it to slip down the hill. He stopped and turned to calming Sitko enough to get him to open the window. “Give me your hand,” Warnock said. “If this thing goes, I want to have a hold of you so I can at least get you out of there.” Before reaching for the lifeline, Sitko had one request: “Can I grab my phone ” Soon enough, Warnock had freed both man and his machine.
According to the Lewiston police chief, the accident was caused when Sitko, who suffered only minor injuries, lost control of his car. For his part, Warnock insisted he came to Sitko’s aid for one simple reason: “I just did what anyone would do.”
24. Where was Matthew Sitko’s SUV when spotted
A. On a cliff. B. By a river.
C. On the road. D. Under a tree.
25. Why did Warnock stop breaking the window

27. Which of the following can best describe Warnock
A. Calm but stubborn. B. Daring but anxious.
C. Caring and decisive. D. Optimistic and strong.

Along with a rising number of space missions by government agencies and private industries, comes a fresh set of problems for Earth: potentially dangerous space junk.
A recent study published in the scientific journal Nature Astronomy concluded “that current practices have a 10 percent chance of one or more deaths over a decade”. In other words, according to researchers from the University of Victoria and the University of British Columbia, there’s roughly a one-in-ten chance that the next decade will witness falling space junk kill someone.
The space junk orbiting the earth is an unfortunate by-product of our desire to explore and document space. According to 2021 figures from NASA and the Department of Defense’s Space Surveillance Data, the agencies were actively tracking more than 27,000 pieces of space junk, most of which are larger than a softball and that casually orbit the planet. While the floating space junk is certainly a problem, not all the objects that went up must come down, and, in fact, a number of pieces simply burn up in the atmosphere. But sometimes those objects, particularly large ones like used rocket attachments, give in to gravity and fall back down to Earth to be dealt with once again by their human makers. Typically, people don’t die or even get injured by this phenomenon — many of the falling pieces crash into the ocean.
They also have to deal with the unsettling feeling of knowing that large rocket pieces can just fall from the sky and that it might affect people in certain parts of the world more than others.
This poses an obvious safety risk to people on the ground. “When some large parts of space junk return to Earth, the parts of their mass survive the heat of atmosphere. Many of the surviving pieces are potentially dangerous, giving serious risks on land, at sea, and to people in airplanes,” the study explains.
28. What is the conclusion of the study published in Nature Astronomy
A. People will see space junk easily in the future.
B. Government agencies and private industries will develop fast.
C. Some people may be hit to death by objects from the space.
D. There will be a 10 percent chance for human to die in 10 years.
29. What can be inferred from the third paragraph
A. Normally we should not worry about space junk.
B. The large space junk will pollute the ocean.
C. The floating space junk will come down finally.
D. The space junk will get burnt in the sky.
30. What might be discussed in the following part of the text
A. How to find space junk.
B. How to deal with space junk.
C. How to inform people of the danger.
D. How to avoid the danger of space junk.
31. Which is the most suitable title for the text
A. Space Junk Causes Pollution
B. How to Take Back Space Junk
C. Exploring Space Takes in Unfortunate Results
D. Space Junk Puts People at Risk
D
“Innovation,” Matt Ridley tells us at the start of his new book, How Innovation Works, “is the most important factor about the modern world, but one of the least well understood.” After decades of careful study, we’re still not completely sure about innovation’s causes or how it can best be developed. In this book, he is trying to make the “great puzzle” easier to understand.
In the first half of his book, we visit with the early developers of the steam engine, knowing the events leading to the Wright brothers’ first flight, and hear about the stories about inventors and their inventions. In the second half of his book, he looks closely, chapter by chapter, at the factors that shape innovations.
Ridley’s most important chapters are where he calls attention to the process of making new things. Innovation, he tells us, is usually a step-by-step journey. This was the case with Thomas Edison, who, as Ridley notes, tried 6, 000 different materials for his electric light.
At Ridley’s conclusion, he tells us the innovation “is the child of freedom and the parent of good life”. But it is unclear why the human desire to move forward is now in the crisis of being abandoned. It seems more realistic to believe that seeking innovation will be just fine, as long as we keep encouraging men and women who are trying to solve important problems. And we don’t necessarily have to create an idea to explain what may be happening. For example, our scientists and engineers are now working around the clock and around the world to fight off the COVID-19. They are solving a big problem with lots of funding, lots of talent, lots of teamwork and lots of ambition. Isn’t that how innovation works, too
32. Matt Ridley’s new book is intended to__________.
A. encourage people to innovate
B. explore the way innovation works
C. share stories about innovation
D. introduce the history of innovation
33. What is the first half of Matt Ridley’s new book mainly about
A. The factors that shape innovations.
B. How the inventors achieved success.
C. How people benefited from innovations in the past.
D. Introduction to some innovations in history.
34. Which of the following may belong to “innovation”
A. Workers apply traditional skills to ensure the profits.
B. Farmers improve their harvest by expanding farming land.
C.Scientists make efforts to create new ways to reduce pollution.
D. Teachers improve students’ academic performance with more homework.
35. What can we conclude from the last paragraph
A. Innovation is the combination of many factors.
B. We can predict the future by innovating.
C. We will face crisis if we never innovate.
D. Innovation is to solve all important problems.

第二节 (满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Christmas was drawing near, and came along with it our favorite moment — the Treasure Hunt.
In the past, my brother Brandon and I had opened all of the packages under the tree. All that was left was an envelope. We knew that envelopes usually contained cards, and if we were lucky, they also contained gift cards or cash.
However, this Christmas my dad looked almost like he’d forgotten about the envelope as he casually handed it to me. I opened it and discovered inside a 3x5 index card (索引卡) with a border of shining surrounding a poem. Of course, I don’t remember the poem by heart, but its rhyming message instructed us to go downstairs. We were excited. Maybe we were getting a pet we had wanted.
What we found downstairs was another envelope, containing another index card with a border of shining surrounding a poem. This poem told us to go to Dad’s car. Was the pet already in the car, ready to go
No! There was just another envelope containing another shining index card. This one told us to go to Mom’s office downtown. Neither of us was old enough to drive. This meant we had to beg our parents to hurry up and get dressed and finish drinking their coffee and get going.
Eventually, we made it to Mom’s office where we found — you guessed it — a poem telling us to go somewhere else. This time it was to the TV station where Dad worked. By now, our curiosity was stretched to the limits of our imaginations.
We soon found out, however, that such a desk at the studio is a lovely place to keep a 3x5 index card with a poem, which confused us more than any other. It told us to go to an unfamiliar address.
The car stopped in front of the unknown house. It felt like the end of the hunt.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡相应位置作答。
My dad handed us the final envelope, and the final poem told us to knock on the door.
Dad was standing behind us by then, and “Merry Christmas,” he said, “The cat’s yours.”
