According to a report from Dr Vivek Murthy, a senior health official in America, while social media offer some benefits, they could also harm children's health."We are in the middle of a national youth mental health crisis, and I am concerned that social media are an important driver of that crisis—one that we must urgently address,"Dr Murthy said.
Some teenagers in the US say social media help them feel more accepted, more supported during tough times, more connected to their friends, and more creative. Nevertheless, there port warned that social media use may cause body image issues, affect eating behaviors and sleep quality, and lead to social comparison and low self-esteem(自尊),especially among teenager girls. And teenagers who spend more than three hours per day on social media face double the risk of experiencing poor mental health outcomes, such as depression and anxiety.
The report called for safeguards from tech companies for children who are at critical stages of brain development. It suggested that policymakers should strengthen safety standards in ways that improve those benefits for children of all ages. It noted that inappropriate and harmful content continues to be easily and widely accessible to children.Tech companies should adhere to age limits to control access to social media, and be transparent about data regarding the impact of their products on children. Platform design should seek to increase the potential benefits of social media instead of features designed to make users spend more time on them.
"The first principle of healthcare is to do no harm—that's the same standard we need to start holding social media platforms to," said Saul Levin, CEO of the American Psychiatric Association.
The suggestions are to avoid danger and make the social media experience more positive. They include creating a family media plan, encouraging in-person friendships, talking to children about how they spend their time online, and encouraging them to seek help if they need it.

Microplastics are not new to our world and our oceans, but as climate change and other environmental concerns become more pressing, they have undoubtedly become a focus as of late. A lot of microplastics pollution comes from the breakdown of larger plastic products, like.bottles and packaging, but manufacturers also intentionally add their own. For decades, microplastics have been added to everyday products—amounting to an estimated about 50,000tons a year in the European Union alone.
In new research, scientists at MIT, cooperating with a chemical company, have taken the first step toward the development of an inexpensive and easily manufactured material to replace those microplastics.
The new process takes advantage of silk coating, a new material made from silk—but not the high-quality kind that is used for clothing. High-quality silk requires silkworm cocoons(蚕茧)to be carefully separated, which takes time, money and resources. However, the low-grade silkworm cocoons used by the researchers simply dissolve in a water-based process.Currently, large quantities of low-grade silk are thrown away since they are considered unusable for clothing—but they would absolutely work within the context of this new process.
For the study, published in Small, the researchers tested the silk coating material in manufacturing equipment. They created a water-soluble microencapsulated herbicide(水溶性微胶囊除草剂)product with the silk coating material rather than chemicals with microplastics. When the product was applied on corn in a greenhouse, not only did it work as well as existing available products, but it also significantly reduced crop damage.
Fortunately, the new silk coating could replace microplastics in many fields. There searchers also discovered that the silk is so flexible that it can change the properties of its coating once it dries and hardens. It can even be made to match the characteristics of the material that it is used to replace.
For now, the process can be easily introduced into real-world manufacturing,as demonstrated in the study, potentially providing a solution for existing factories.
32.What does the first paragraph show
A.The estimated value of microplastics.
B. The purpose of adding microplastics.
C. The improvement of microplastics pollution
D. The development of microplastics pollution.
33.What can we say about the silk coating material according to paragraph 3
A.Rare.B. Complex.C.Low-budget.D. High-quality.
34.What did the researchers find out about the silk coating material
A. It added more chemicals to existing products.
B. It could be adaptable to various circumstances.
C. It could lose its original property in a greenhouse.
D.It was efficient at speeding up the growth of corn.
35.What is the best title for the text
A.Silk offers an alternative to microplastics
B.Silk has been used in greenhouse growing
C.Silk is far from an environmentally friendly material
D.Silk shows a novel way to make use of microplastics

Sarah's husband's death had caused her great pain. Raising three kids on her own had been anything but easy. She was no longer able to give them complete attention because she was always busy with work. Fortunately, she lived in a community where her neighbors were always ready to reach out to help, like helping take care of her kids. Sarah appreciated their kindness from the bottom of her heart.
One day, after her kids went to school, Sarah placed her coffee maker on the stove and had a rest on the sofa. She fell asleep fast because of tiredness. However, her coffee was still on the stove. Strong winds blew the window curtain toward the stove, causing it to catch fire.Smelling smoke, Sarah woke up immediately, only to discover that her house was on fire! She had to open the bedroom window and escape.
Sarah's house was reduced to ruins. Her neighbors were still there, offering to shelter her family until she could find a new place to live in.But Sarah couldn't take their favor. She knew no one wanted to see many kids at home. She chose to move in a local homeless shelter with her three kids. She even stopped keeping in touch with her neighbors after that, because she thought she was too embarrassed to accept their help.
To save as much money as possible to repair her house, Sarah worked hard day, and night, but she could barely save anything. Worse still, her kids often fell sick because of poor living condition. Seeing herself fail in almost every walk of life, Sarah became increasingly depressed.
Two months later, it was Sarah's birthday. Sarah decided to take her kids out for a good lunch. But Sarah's eldest daughter, Rose, said,"Mum, you have to put on the blindfold (蒙眼布)and come with us. We're taking you somewhere special!" Sarah smiled and did as requested, wondering what they wanted to do.
