Materials:
Whiteboard, markers, and eraser
Handouts with discussion prompts
Audio or video clips representing different beliefs
Warm-up Activity:
Begin the lesson by asking the students about their beliefs and opinions on a particular topic.
Example topic: “Do you believe in ghosts ”
Allow the students to share their thoughts and opinions, encouraging them to provide reasons for their beliefs.
Write some key phrases or vocabulary related to beliefs on the whiteboard for reference during the lesson.
Introduction:
Show a picture or play a short video clip that presents different beliefs or perspectives.
Engage the students in a brief discussion about what they see or hear, and ask them to share their initial thoughts or reactions.
Introduce the topic of beliefs and explain that belief systems can vary among individuals and cultures.
Discuss the importance of respecting others’ beliefs and engaging in open-minded discussions.
Guided Practice:
Provide handouts with discussion prompts to each student, or display the prompts on the whiteboard.
Instruct the students to work in pairs or small groups to discuss the given prompts and share their beliefs and opinions.
Monitor their discussions, providing guidance and language support as needed.
Afterward, ask some groups to share their discussions with the whole class, encouraging them to use appropriate vocabulary and expressions.

What is your opinion on superstitions

Listening and Speaking Activity :

Group Activity and Debate (15 minutes):
Divide the class into small groups and assign each group a specific belief or topic to prepare for a debate.
Instruct the groups to research and gather information to support their assigned beliefs or arguments.
Provide a structured debate format, allowing each group to present their beliefs, counterarguments, and rebuttals.
Encourage the students to use appropriate language and persuasive techniques during the debate.
Wrap-up Activity :
Summarize the key points discussed during the lesson, emphasizing the importance of respecting others’ beliefs and engaging in constructive dialogue.
Ask the students to reflect on and write a short paragraph about a personal belief they hold and why it is important to them.
Share some of the paragraphs aloud to promote further discussion and understanding among peers.
