seldom是频度副词,相当于hardly ever,通常放在be动词、助动词或情态动词之后,实义动词之前,表示否定意义。
cause的常用搭配:
cause sth.引起某事

cause sb. sth.= cause sth. for sb.给某人带来....../惹来......
e.g. He caused his parents a lot of trouble.
= He caused a lot of trouble for his parents. 他给父母造成很多麻烦。
cause sb. / sth. to do sth. 导致某人/某物......
e.g. The drought caused the plants to die. 久旱造成植物枯死。
cause还可以作名词,意思是“原因,起因”。
e.g. I wouldn’t tell you without (good) cause.没有理由,我是不会告诉你的。

fail v. 不及格;失败;未能(做到)
fail的常见搭配:

in person “亲身;亲自”,相当于personally。

It’s + 表示事物品质的形容词 + for sb. to do sth. ,意思是“对某人来说做某事是……的”,动词不定式to do sth.是真正的主语。
It’s +表示人的品质的形容词 + of sb. to do sth.意思是“某人做某事是……的”,此时的形容词是修饰“某人”的。
e.g. It’s difficult for us to buy a new house.
对我们来说买套新房很困难。
