“People skills” refer to understanding and communication.
The people in Professor Mayer’s study changed by being more willing to help people with difficulties and by showing a better understanding of the disabled students’ feelings. They also became more positive about life and more willing to try new things.
EQ is important because being successful in life requires being able to get on well with others and being able to understand and react to situations in the best possible way.
