In our everyday life, we take many things for granted. Being able to see is one of them. However, not everyone in the world has good vision (视力).
The World Health Organization (WHO)has released its World Report on vision saying that 65 million people could get their vision back with a cataract operation (白内障手术), but cannot get one because they have little or no healthcare where they live. In addition, over 800 million people have trouble doing everyday activities because they don' t have enough money to buy a pair of glasses.
For example, there are thousands of nearsighted (近视的) African drivers who have difficulty seeing people walking across the road. This makes it dangerous for them to drive. And there are coffee farmers in Bolivia who find it hard to see their ripe (成熟的) beans because of cataracts. This means they can' t harvest as many beans as others.
This is mainly a problem in low income (低收入) countries, such as western and eastern sub-Saharan Africa, according to the report. A lack of eye care services is one of the main reasons for this.
In southern Asia and other places around the world, there are still some cultural barriers when trying to get glasses. In some places, people believe wearing glasses will make one' s eyes worse. In other places, when kids start wearing glasses, their grandparents will say they are for rich people and not for village boys or girls. These beliefs and attitudes must change before more kids can get glasses and improve their vision.

Is modern life moving too fast Do you feel as if you are running hard, but staying in the same place Well, you are not alone. According to a recent study, 78% of the young people say the “sped-up” pace (节奏)of modern life is making them feel really tired.
Rapid changes in technology and society are the main causes of the problem. And the continuous bombardment (轰炸)of information can be another cause. With everyone connected by smartphones, young people are keeping up to date with the newest, the latest and the coolest things happening around them. No one wants to miss a hot topic. And with all the videos, games and messages they get from smartphones, they feel uncomfortable with times when it' s quiet—it' s so boring!
Is there a way to help stop the “sped-up” life Yes, there is. Turn off your smartphone! Staying away from your phone for a few hours each day will put you back in control of your life. Even Bill Gates and Steve Jobs were worried about the influences of the technologies they had created. They didn' t allow their own kids to use the smartphones and the Internet for too long.
As human beings, we are not supposed to be stimulated(刺激)all the time. It can even be harmful to both our physical and mental(心理的)health. So, slow down to visit a park, read a book and take up a hobby. It' s a little bit hard and you have to make a great effort, but it' s you who can take control of your time and life, isn' t it

What' s more, 8 per cent of the students get fatter and fatter because they eat lots of snacks and hardly do exercise. In my opinion, it' s better for them to have more healthy food and do exercise every day.
