Ⅰ.阅读理解
True friends double your happiness and half your burdens. Basically how you would like a true friend to be, you should be like this to your true friends. Trust, forgiveness, accountability(责任) are some ingredients of a true friend. True friendships are hard to come by. And what's more, life is short. So treasure these friends if you have already had them, if you don't continue to search, because once you have them, life becomes so much easier to live, no matter what happens. I have been through pretty tough patches and I dare say, without my friends I would not have made it.
Friendships need lots of energy and patience to maintain them. Not to mention time too. When your friends need you, sometimes when things are not going too well on your side, it is often so easy to turn_a_deaf_ear to their pleas. It is especially during these times that you must find the strength in you to help your friends. And it is during these times that your friendships will be forged and made stronger.
And you must always be happy for their success, even when things are not going too well on your side. It might be hard to do for some people but it is something that you need to learn. Think about all the sacrifices your friends have made for you and all the times when they were happy for you despite their own troubles.
Think about all the happy times you all enjoyed and the sad, rough times you all went through together. That should give you sufficient patience to actually be a true friend for them. Remember, true friends are the next best thing to family. They will always be your pillar of support no matter what happens. Always.

A
Finding a good friend can be quite difficult in the contemporary lives of teenagers. I was once baffled by what the definition of a good friend was, until I discovered a single step that, if taken, would make you the greatest friend.
It is willingness. That is all it takes in order to be considered a good friend. Willingness must come from within your heart. Listening to your friends makes them feel important, special and wanted. The willingness to sacrifice for your friends will also take you a step closer to being a good friend. For instance, as you are about to leave to enjoy your Saturday night, your best friend calls you right when you are stepping out and tells you how terrible he feels, you must be willing to give up your Saturday night and go to your friend's house and try to comfort him in any way that you can.
You must always be willing to give advice to your friends. For example, if your friends are in a situation where they do not know what to do, you must be willing to think things through and try to give them the best advice. The willingness to care is also a big must in being a good friend. You must care about how your friends feel and what they're experiencing. Caring about your friends is one of the best things you can do, because when your friends are in their time of need and the whole world seems to turn against them, you must be the one to care.
Nobody ever said being a good friend was easy. If you want to be a good friend, you have to be willing to listen, sacrifice, give advice and care about your friends.

Friends play an important part in our lives, and although we may take friendship for granted, we often don't clearly understand how to make friends. While we get on well with a number of people, we are usually friends with only a very few—for example, the average among students is about 6 per person. In all the cases of friendly relationships, two people like one another and enjoy being together, but beyond that, the degree of intimacy(亲密) between them and the reasons for their shared interests vary greatly. As we get to know people, we take into account things like age, race, economic condition, social position, and intelligence. Although these factors are not of importance, it is more difficult to get on with people when there is a marked difference in age and background.
Some friendly relationships can be kept on argument and discussion, but it is usual for close friends to have similar ideas and beliefs, the same opinions and interests—they often talk about being on the wavelength. It generally takes time to reach this point. And the more intimately involved people become, the more they depend on one another. People who want to be friends have to learn to put up with annoying habits and to stand difference.
In contrast with marriage, there are no friendship ceremonies to strengthen the association between two people. But the supporting and understanding of each other that results from shared experiences and emotions does seem to create a powerful bond, which can overcome differences in background, and break down barriers(障碍) of age, class or race.
5.Which of the following is NOT implied in the passage?
A.Someone's habits may annoy his friends.
B.Even friends may have different opinions.
C.It generally takes time for people to become close friends.
D.Friends never argue with each other.
6.When people talk about “being on the wavelength”, they mean that they______.
A.have the same background
B.share the same way of thinking and the same interests
C.are the same in all ways
D.watch the same programmes
7.According to the passage______.
A.every student has six friends
B.all the people know how to make friends
C.friends are closer than people who just get on with each other
D.friends are those who must share their interests
8.We can learn from the passage that______.
A.there are no special ceremonies to strengthen friendship
B.standing differences in opinion can lead to friendship
C.friendship can be strengthened by smile and soft voices
D.friendship can overcome all differences between people

语篇提能
Ⅰ.阅读理解
When it comes to friends, I desire those who will share my happiness, who possess wings of their own and who will fly with me. I seek friends whose qualities illuminate(照亮) me and train me up for love. It is for these people that I reserve the glowing hours, too good not to share.
When I was in the eighth grade, I had a friend. We were shy and “too serious” about our studies when it was becoming fashionable with our classmates to learn acceptable social behaviors. We said little at school, but she would come to my house and we would sit down with pencils and paper, and one of us would say: “Let's start with a train whistle today.” We would sit quietly together and write separate poems or stories that grew out of a train whistle. Then we would read them aloud. At the end of that school year,we, too, were changed into social creatures and the stories and poems stopped.
When I lived for a time in London, I had a friend. He was in despair(失望) and I was in despair. But our friendship was based on the idea in each of us that we would be sorry later if we did not explore this great city because we had felt bad at the time. We met every Sunday for five weeks and found many excellent things. We walked until our despairs disappeared and then we parted. We_gave_London_to_each_other.
For almost four years I have had a remarkable friend whose imagination illuminates mine. We write long letters in which we often discover our strangest selves. Each of us appears, sometimes in a funny way, in the other's dreams. She and I agree that, at certain times,we seem to be parts of the same mind. In my most interesting moments, I often think: “Yes, I must tell... ”We have never met.
It is such comforting companions I wish to keep. One bright hour with their kind is worth more to me than the “lifetime services of a psychologist(心理学家) ,who will only fill up the healing(愈合的) silence necessary to those darkest moments in which I would rather be my own best friend”.
1.In the eighth grade, what the author did before developing proper social behavior was to ______.
A.become serious about her study
B.go to her friend's house regularly
C.learn from her classmates at school
D.share poems and stories with her friend
2.In Paragraph 3,“We gave London to each other.” probably means ______.
A.our exploration of London was a memorable gift to both of us
B.we were unwilling to tear ourselves away from London
C.our unpleasant feelings about London disappeared
D.we parted with each other in London
3.In the darkest moments, the author would prefer to ______.
A.seek professional help
B.be left alone
C.stay with her best friend
D.break the silence
4.What's the best title for the passage?
A.Unforgettable Experiences
B.Remarkable Imagination
C.Lifelong Friendship
D.Noble Companions

范文:
Friendship is a kind of human relations. It is a human instinct to make friends. When in trouble, we need friends to offer us help, support and encouragement. When we succeed, we also need friends to share our joys.
Friendship is also one of the greatest pleasures that we can enjoy. It implies loyalty, cordiality, sympathy, affection and readiness to help. No man can make the most of his life without several honest and loyal friends as he goes along.
Knowing how valuable friendship is, we should be very careful in making friends. Real friends are those who have good characters, superior abilities and kindness of heart. Real friends can share all our sorrows and double all our joys. While making friends, we should always remember “A friend in need is a friend indeed.”

阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。
A
It's not easy being a teenager(13~19岁的青少年)— nor is it easy being the parents of a teenager. You can make your child feel angry, hurt, or misunderstood by what you say without realizing it yourself. It is important to give your child the space he needs to grow while gently letting him know that you'll still be there for him when he needs you.
Expect a lot from your child, just not everything. Except for health and safety problems, such as drug use or careless driving, consider everything else open to discussion. If your child is unwilling to discuss something, don't insist that he tell you what's in his mind. The more you insist, the more likely that he'll clam_up. Instead, let him attempt to solve(解决) things by himself. At the same time, remind him that you're always there for him should he seek advice or help. Show respect for your teenager's privacy(隐私). Never read his mail or listen in on personal conversations.
Teach your teenager that the family phone is for the whole family. If your child talks on the family phone for too long, tell him he can talk for 15 minutes, but then he must stay off the phone for at least an equal period of time. This not only frees up the line so that other family members can make and receive calls, but teaches your teenager moderation(节制). Or if you are open to the idea, allow your teenager his own phone that he pays for with his own pocket money or a part-time job.
1.The main purpose of the text is to tell parents ______.
A.how to get along with a teenager
B.how to respect a teenager
C.how to understand a teenager

A.become excited B.show respect
C.refuse to talk D.seek help

A.Don't allow him to learn driving or take drugs.
B.Give him advice only when necessary.
C.Let him have his own telephone.
D.Don't talk about personal things with him.

Why is setting goals important? Because goals can help you do,be,and experience everything you want in life.Instead of just letting life happen to you, goals allow yourself to make your life happen.
Successful and happy people have a vision of how their life should be and they set lots of goals to help them reach their visions.By setting goals you are taking control of your life. It’s like having a map to show you where you want to go. Think of it this way. There are two drivers. One has a destination (goal)in mind, which is laid out for him on a map. He can drive straight there without any wasted time or wrong turns. The other driver has no goal or destination or map. He starts off at the same time from the same place as the first driver, but he drives aimlessly around, never getting anywhere, just using up gas and oil.Which driver do you want to be?
Winners in life set goals and follow through on them.Winners decide what they want in life and then get there by making plans and setting goals. Unsuccessful people just let life happen by accident. Goals aren't difficult to set,and they aren't difficult to reach. It’s up to you to find out what your goals, ideals and visions really are.You are the one who must decide what to pursue and in what direction to aim your life.
Research tells us when we write a goal down we are more likely to achieve it.Written goals can be reviewed regularly, and have more power.Like a contract with yourself they are harder to neglect or forget.
Also when you write your goals in a particular fashion you are able to stimulate yourself to be continuously alert to situations that will further your goals.

I always felt sorry for people in wheelchairs. Some people, old and weak, cannot get around by themselves. Others seem perfectly healthy, dressed in business suits, and wheel themselves around with strong determination. But whenever I saw someone in a wheelchair,I only saw a disability, not a person.
Then I fainted at Euro Disney due to low blood pressure. This was the first time I had ever fainted, and my parents said that I must rest for a while after First Aid. I agreed to take it easy but, as I stepped toward the door,I saw my dad pushing a wheelchair in my direction! Feeling the colour burn my cheeks, I asked him to wheel that thing right back to where he found it.
I could not believe this was happening to me. Wheelchairs were fine for other people but not for me. As my father wheeled me out into the main street, people immediately began to treat me differently.
Little kids ran in front of me, forcing my father to stop the wheelchair suddenly. Bitterness set in as I was thrown back and forth. “Stupid kids—they have perfectly good legs. Why can't they watch where they're going?” I thought. People stared down at me, pity in their eyes. Then they would look away, maybe because they thought the sooner they forgot me the better.
“I'm just like you!” I wanted to scream. “The only difference is you've got legs, and I have wheels.”
People in wheelchairs are not stupid. They see every look and hear each word. Looking out at the faces, I finally understood: I was once just like them. I treated people in wheelchairs exactly the way they did not want to be treated. I realized it is some of us with two healthy legs who are truly disabled.

A. life is the best teacher
B. eat one's own bitter fruit
C. life is so changeable that nobody can foretell what will happen
D. don't do to others what you would not like others to do to you

It is difficult for doctors to help a person with a damaged brain. Without enough blood, the brain lives for only three to five minutes. More often the doctors can't fix the damage. Sometimes they are afraid to try something to help because it is dangerous to work on the brain. The doctors might make the person worse if they operate on the brain.
Dr. Robert White, a famous professor and doctor, thinks he knows a way to help. He thinks doctors should make the brain very cold. If it is very cold, the brain can live without blood for 30 minutes. This gives the doctor a longer time to do something for the brain.
Dr. White tried his idea on 13 monkeys. First he taught them to do different jobs, then he operated on them. He made the monkeys' blood back to the monkeys' brains. When the brain's temperature was 10℃, Dr. White stopped the blood to the brain. After 30 minutes he turned the blood back on. He warmed the blood again. 范文:
Building a Good Teacher?student Relationship
A good teacher-student relationship is one of the guarantees for successful teaching and learning. A good relationship leads to fruitful cooperation, that is,the teacher can guide his/her students more effectively and the students can learn more efficiently.
From my personal experience I conclude that an ideal teacher-student relationship depends on the common efforts. For example, we have developed a warm, friendly relationship with our English teacher. We admire her for the special efforts she poured into our class. Her lectures are always well prepared and delivered clearly. We also admire the fact that she spends time generously with us students after class. Inspired by her devotion,we study all the more diligently.
Of course, misunderstanding may occur once in a while. In this case,I think, both sides should be kind, patient and frank. By sitting down and having a good talk we can work out any trouble.
